I just got an email from Fabric.com with a new free pattern. This one is for a bonnet-like hat that maybe could be a jumping off point for various 19th century bonnet styles. Possibly. Anyway, the pattern is linked to on this page.

I ordered the Sense and Sensibility pattern because it was closer to the Image in my head of what I wanted. The pattern doesn't seem all that difficult; but it would take more time than I am currently willing to invest in costume pieces. So Butterick has a couple of new costume patterns out: B5370 and B5371. Both look nice, though their historical accuracy would probably be best described as "suspect". I'll pick them both up next time they're on sale. I've been thinking about making a set of bracers for SkyPirate!Minerva to carry her drawing implements on. Yay! Convenience!

Wow! Check out the new patterns from Simplicity: 2859 and 2621. Those are pretty damn impressive for a Big 4 company. I don't think we've had anything this nice (for Renaissance) since the Shakespeare In Love knock-off.

2581 ain't bad either.

Ooo...looky here! I'd heard she was working on a Tudor pattern, but I didn't know it was close to release. I love her 'Bethans. I'm going to have to fit this into the budget once it's released.

Since I've declared it Close Enough, I thought I'd produce a little review of the pattern I used to make my corset: TV110: 1880 Late Victorian Corset.

I found two bolts of the fabric in question at the Frisco Joanns and bought one of them. I discovered that it isn't really black and white--it's more black and slightly-more-off-than-bleached-muslin-off-white. I splurged on a bunch of Truly Victorian patterns last night:
TV110, 1880 Late Victorian Corset: I like the lines of this more than the Laughing Moon or Simplicity corsets, and it is from smack in the middle of my preferred Victorian period (Natural Form)
