This weekend Cass and I went to Oak Glen for apples. I got some spicy Apple BBQ sauce, and Cass got some Fairies.

Saturday I rode Marshall Canyon, since Claremont Hills was closed again due to Fire danger. I took my helmet camera again, but I think the batteries were dead :(

On Sunday, after we got home from Vegas, Cass mentioned that we had money left over. She suggested we buy His and Hers Heart Rate Monitors. I have never ridden with one before, but thought it would be a good way to track progress and enforce a pace on myself. I usually do Brown Mountain on Tuesdays, as an out and back ride. Today, I decided to try the single-track down. Reading up on El Prieto, I found that it's rated 5 out of 5 on technical difficulty. It should also get a 5 out of 5 on Fun. A couple of places were tough enough to walk the bike, but overall awesome. I highly recommened it if anyone is ( Read more... )

Left Friday evening for a weekend camping trip. Traffic never really gives up between 2pm and 10pm, so we were caught in the brunt of it. Did Marshall Canyon last night around 6pm.

It looks drastically different from the last time I was there. I heard that Claremont Hills Wilderness park was recently graded, and I assume that they did marshall as well. Very nice. The singletrack is now 18-24" wide, vs like 6" before.

This weekend's camping trip was very fun. Arrived Thursday evening, quickly setup camp and had some drinks. Friday included a short hike to San Antonio Falls. Saturday, we hiked Thunder Mountain. The general rule of thumb for temperature change is 1 degree for every 300 feet in elevation gain. This roughly equates to a 20 degree difference between ( Read more... )

Woke up early on Tuesday, Karl and I headed up to the Mt. San Antonio area (Old Baldy) with out bikes. Rode on Falls Rd to San Antonio falls, then rode up to the top of the chairlift for Mt Baldy ski area
