The new Doctor is in (I am talking about Doctor Who, of course). I have to say, as much as I love David Tennant, Matt Smith is pretty good. There is much of the old Doctor in him (still fond of running, it seems), which makes the transition easier. Also, I think the decision to have this episode written by Moffat was very wise.

So, last night I checked out Justine Larbalestier's Liar out of the library. I curled up on the couch and happily got to page 34, only to discover that someone ripped out pages 35-36. I did indeed make blini on Sunday. In fact, I went overboard and made some kind of complicated yeast batter. I have never even seen my mother make that (with good reason, it takes four hours). I made pies. I don't mean a bunch of big pies. I made what Russians call 'pirozhki'. They are basically empanada-style pies, small pockets of yeast dough with filling.
