Wow. AKA I'm dissapointed

So I was asked what prompted my BDSM rant.  And I was vague in my answer because honestly, I'm not out to flame anyone.  Or shame them.  But I think I will give the specifics now because I posted my comment (after having two people look it over and help me NOT sound like a bitch) and I got a rather disappointing PM back ( Read more... )

What you said was totally reasonable. Most people just get defensive when given any sort of criticism, even if it's constructive. Don't worry too much. *hug*

Thanks. And I'm not. But the part of me that still foolishly still has faith in humanity is whimpering in pain. Why must stupidity be painful to the rest of us? Why isn't it painful to the one being stupid?

'cause what you're doing is the equivalent of being a martial arts expert trying to kill some idiot with a shotgun in hand to hand combat. Sometimes not giving a shit is a weapon of itself, and when idiots wield it, it's painful. :P

I think you can generally assume that anything that you rant about on ffrants will cause someone to flip out. (And then the rest pile on.) It's the way that group works. I really wouldn't stress it. ;)

I know, I know ^_^;; The thing is I kept the rant here. I tried soooooo hard to be constructive and helpful over there. Damn the idealistic, optimistic part of me.

Of course, this is a good example of why I RARELY comment over on the Pit.

Here is the kicker, her defence is that the story was just supposed to be FAN SERVICE. Since when does writing fan service mean crappy writing is okay?

Yes, you ought to know better by now. ;)

I pretty much avoid the pit for that reason. No good ever comes from it, really.

I do get that a lot of writers are pretty crappy, and just sort of accept it. But yeah, I wish people would not be awful writers. (Or at least would try to improve from time to time.) Not going to happen, though. Sadly. Well, from most people, anyway.

Oh I have found some lovely gems over there. Of course this means wading through a lot if crap first but that is the nature of the beast.

I just wish people were able to deal with concrit constructively. After all, its meant help better one's craft.

i got caught up in one of those, the fic was a bdsm au where the government had the right to choose the dominant for the submissive and the dominant could have up to five but the submissive had no say in it, and i told her that she needed to warn for sexual slavery and she outright told me it wasn't
i told her if she wanted ot write that it was fine but she needed to warn for non/con, dubcon and sexual slavery because it really was, because a dominant could ask for a submissive and get them despite submissive protest or even parental protest, and she told me I didn't understand bdsm aus
then everyone else backed me and her trolls came along accusing me of blacklisting her

you cant' win with these people, all you can do is educate them and hope they take some advice before someone ends up in the hospital

Oh wow o.o that is positively terrifying. The fic and the response.

And yes. That's pretty much why I posted the comment on her fic in the hopes that someone will come along, read it and go "Oh!"
