According to an article on the Psychology Today website, the British papers basically feel free to make stuff up at will. Not just the tabloids, mind you, but the "respectable" papers as well. As opposed to the US press, right? :-P (Wanted to link to some faked US press stories here, but I'm too lazy. They exist.)

In case you haven't heard the news, a human foot was found among some recycling from Toronto that was sent to New York State for processing. Toronto Police are investigating, likely because organics like that are supposed to go in the green bin, not the blue one.
