Thursday, 12/18: Fire alarm (set off by steam from a burst pipe, elsewhere in the building) at 02:00, had us standing out in the cold until roughly 02:40. So, I've had to call this year's attempts at olive brining a failure. Something started growing in them, in spite of regular water changes. I happened to glance at the ingredients of the box of salt today, and noticed that it also contains maltodextrin. A sugar. That probably explains the growing thing.
