Seared Tuna Deliciousness

Jan 07, 2009 03:01

Ingredients:
* 1/2 lb raw ahi (yellowfin) tuna
* 2 cloves garlic, minced
* 3 Tbsp fresh-squeezed lemon juice
* 2 Tbsp soy sauce
* 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
* 1/4 tsp dry mustard
* peanut oil

* Combine garlic, lemon juice, soy sauce, pepper and mustard into a sauce. Dip tuna in sauce, or marinade in the 'fridge for 1h. (The sauce has a very strong flavor - marinade at your own risk.)
* Heat peanut oil in a frying pan until it ripples when swirled. Add the tuna, and pour the sauce overtop. (The sauce is likely to splatter, so you may want to have a lid handy at this point.)
* Cook to desired level of doneness. For me, that's fully cooked for about 1/4" around the outside and still raw inside. It gives a delicious layered variation of flavor and texture.
* Serve hot.
