Unexpected The following Thursday, DG knocked on Michael's door. "Hey," she said as he looked up from the papers on his desk. "They're shipping tomorrow."
Michael nodded and glanced back down to the report in front of him and waved to the chair across from him. "They didn't give you any trouble?"
"They tried," DG said with a smile. She glanced at the stack of papers and rubbed at her forehead for a second before taking a deep breath and looking up to Michael. "So, I've been thinking," she said slowly, waiting for him to look up.
Michael pulled his glasses off slowly and set them down on top of the report before he looked up. He knew that tone all too well. "It's time?" he asked with a nod. He knew the day would come, but he was still trying to deny it. DG glanced to the desk again and bit her lip.
"Well," he smiled. "At least I know that I'm losing you to your family and not the Louver or the Smithsonian or... UCLA." DG laughed and glanced up to his diploma from USC. "When?"
"Last day of school," DG nodded.
"That's nearly a month and a half," Michael said wide-eyed.
DG nodded. "I figured that with everything you've done for me, the least I could do was give you fair warning." She gave him a sad smile and opened her mouth, then shut it again.
"This is what you want?" he asked, already knowing the answer.
DG nodded. "It's time I grew up and stopped avoiding... me," she said with a smile. "And, for the record," she said with a nod. "-I would never consider working anywhere else."
Michael beamed and picked his glasses up. "Are we telling anyone?" he asked with a raised brow.
DG smiled. "I was going to wait until the weekend to tell Sasha. I think it'll sit better if she's drunk." Michael laughed out loud. "But do what you need to," she added with a nod.
Michael nodded again and glanced back to her. "Anything else?"
"Supplies for the kids' activities are getting low. I can put an order together, if you'd like. Or find an intern. And I'm headed to lunch, because I'm hungry. Otherwise... nope, that's it." She said with a nod.
"If you would do the order," Michael asked with a nod. DG nodded. "Have an intern watch, just in case," he added with a shrug.
"Okay," DG said, planting her hands on her knees and pushing up from the chair.
As she neared the door, Michael called her back. "Oh, and, DG?" She turned and he gave her a nod. "Good for you." She smiled and tilted her head slightly before heading back into the hallway

Sasha found DG around five. "Hey, need a ride?"
DG closed up the last two files on her desk and nodded. "You sure?"
"Yep," Sasha said with a wave. A mile away, she turned to DG. "I'm sorry."
"What?" DG laughed.
"I totally offered you a ride under the pretense of asking you a huge favor," Sasha stated with a forced grin.
"A favor, huh?" DG asked with a smile.
"I was kinda hoping you would drive me to the airport in two weeks so that I don’t have to leave the car there."
"Oh, the trip," DG breathed.
"Yeah. I mean, I could leave the car at the airport but, this way, you aren’t stuck and, y'know, you can go somewhere. Like... Tijuana," Sasha waved.
"Tijuana?" DG laughed.
"Tijuana, Napa... pack a bag, get the man drunk and take advantage of him."
"Okay," DG laughed again. "Sash, I told you when you booked the trip, two months ago, that I would take you to the airport. Don't worry about it. You'll go, you'll schmooze and you'll come home. It's just a convention."
Sasha pulled up behind Josh, who was standing on the sidewalk with Cain when they arrived. She waved to the boys as DG got out of the car and then waved to DG before pulling away from the curb.
"Boys," DG nodded. "Staying out of trouble, I hope."
Josh made a face and Cain just nodded. "Hey, Dee. Beach. Saturday. Yes?" Josh asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Uh..." she replied, looking toward the building, trying to remember if she had anything planned. "Yeah, sure," she shrugged.
Cain pointed down the street. "Dinner? On him?" he added, pointing back to Josh. Josh gave him a shocked look then shrugged, looking to DG.
"Okay. Give me five minutes?" she asked, nodding toward the door. Both of them nodded and she headed inside. Exactly six minutes later, she came back outside, in jeans and a t-shirt, and gave the boys a smile.
"So, did we learn a lot in school today?" Josh offered her an arm and DG took Cain's and the three of them moved toward the end of the block as Josh started telling DG about what happened in class that day.

"So he flips out because the tour has the choreography down - we're talking exact - and there's no mention of Fosse in the program. So we had to listen to that for twenty minutes," Josh groaned.
DG smiled and reached for the ketchup as Cain poked at his curly fries. "And what's our progress with Amanda?" DG asked, putting ketchup on Cain's plate and stealing a fry.
Josh shook his head. "No go."
"What happened?" DG asked with a frown.
Josh shook his head. "We just didn't click, y'know. Which is totally bogus because oh my god, she surfs." Cain reached over and squeezed Josh's shoulder. "We've got so much in common, we can't not be friends. So, at least there's that," he said with a smile.
"Well," DG said, stealing another fry. "You know what they say about friends." As soon as she said it, she wanted to slap herself. She missed the look Cain was giving her because she was raising an eyebrow at the look on Josh's face.
"Is she going to the beach with us?" Cain asked.
"No, she's got a softball thing," Josh said, shaking his head.
"She plays softball and surfs?" DG asked, rather impressed.
"She's a trainer," Josh said, shaking his head.
"Wow," DG said, sharing a look with Cain. "So, what's this about the beach?"
Josh looked up from what was left of his burger and shrugged. "Figured we all needed a last big bash before finals bog everyone down and all. It's just the guys and you," he said, waving toward Cain and DG. "Nothing too exciting."
"Did you clear it with the Harbor Master?" DG asked, smiling into her drink. Cain laughed, covering his mouth with a fist and trying to play it off as a cough.
"Funny," Josh said with a glare, but smiled a second later, wondering if they could swing a bonfire.
