"That's real funny," DG half-laughed. In front of her, the palace physician shook his head and frowned.

"I'm not laughing, Highness," the man said slowly. DG tilted her head and gave him a look, suggesting he drop the act, but the man didn't budge.

Her breath caught slightly and she leaned back. "That's really not funny, Doc," she repeated, shaking her head.

"No," he agreed. "It isn't."

DG took a deep breath and shook her head. "But, it's impossible," she reminded him.

"Apparently not, Highness," he repeated, shaking his head.

"No," DG said, shaking her head again. "It's not possible," she said slowly, as if repeating it would make him understand.

"I know, Highness. I'm the one who told him," the doctor responded. DG stared at her lap for a moment and tilted her head again.

"How is this possible?" The doctor shook his head.

"I haven't a clue, Highness. I can only tell you what I know." DG glanced up to him and stared for a moment, trying to find the slightest flinch or break in the man's expression.

DG moved through the hallways of the palace, deep in thought. She knew the men were in the library, simply because they were there every other afternoon at the same time. She reached the doorway to the upper level and stepped into the large room, heading straight for the railing.

Glancing down to the lower level, DG spotted Cain and Jeb working on their sword fighting; a hobby the two of them had taken up in the last few months. Cycles... whatever. Jeb saw movement and looked up, then offered her a wave. Cain noticed and turned, glancing up to see her, as well.

A knock on the door below her drew the Cain men's attention and Jeb stepped away, leaving Cain to look up to DG. She made the motion of blowing him a quick kiss and mouthed 'Thank you' to him. With a smile and nod, Cain cocked his head slightly, questioning the gesture.

DG pointed to him and raised a finger, then to herself and raised two. Cain nodded and pointed between the both of them as well, raising two fingers. DG shook her head and raised three, which caused Cain to frown. He repeated her motion, one finger raised then two, and held up two fingers again.

DG shook her head, again, and raised three, which caused Cain to shrug. DG pointed to him and Cain raised a finger. DG nodded and pointed to herself; Cain raised a second finger and shrugged. With one hand, DG raised three fingers as her other hand moved to her stomach.

Cain shook his head with a furrowed brow and DG nodded. Cain's head tiled to one side and DG's shoulders lifted slightly. A second later, Cain gave her a look and blinked. "What?"

DG simply raised her hands and nodded. Cain shook his head decisively and all DG could do was nod as her hand moved back to her stomach. As his brain tried to process what he assumed she was telling him, Cain nearly dropped the sword.

After a few moments of staring at the chair in the corner, Cain glanced back up to DG. She was waving a finger at him, directing him to join her upstairs. He replaced the sword on its rack and headed for the metal staircase in the corner and was soon up the steps and at her side.

"Are you serious?" he asked quietly.

"It's what he said," she shrugged.

"But, it's-" Cain started.

"-impossible," DG continued. Cain nodded. "Apparently not," she added as her fingers interlaced with his. Cain looked at the wall for a moment then smiled and looked back down to her with a laugh.

Royal Family welcomes twins

The staff of the Central City Suns is pleased to announce that, last evening, her Royal Highness, the Princess DG, gave birth to twins. Her Majesty, the Queen, informed us that mother and children are healthy and the family will present the twins to the public soon, and hopes the subjects will allow the family some time to adjust to the new arrivals.

His Royal Highness has also announced that the children, a girl and a boy, have been named Lowry Harris Cain and Joshua Simon Cain, respectively.
