"Oh," DG laughed. "Do I have pictures." Cain breathed heavily and rubbed at his forehead as the Queen smiled. After the initial rounds of hugs and about a dozen-and-a-half admissions of "I'm fine" from both Cain and DG, the family moved into the library. Raw wanted to stay with DG, but his head was pounding, so Jeb wished everyone a good night, told his father they'd catch up in the morning and pulled Raw from the room.

Cain had tried to slip out with them, but the Queen insisted he stay. Ahamo cornered him and began asking questions about the Other Side, wanting to know everything. DG tried not to laugh as Cain was getting far more attention than he probably wanted. DG was telling her parents about the Huntington and the gala when the discussion moved to Cain in a suit.

DG reached for her bag and shot Cain a look that took everything he had not to respond to. After his little realization earlier, Cain was going to be sure not to slip. Especially not in front of the Queen. "Here," DG said, pulling a sleeve of photos from the bag.

Glitch was examining Cain's backpack, zipping and unzipping the zippers, looking into the pockets. Cain rolled his eyes and shot a look to DG. She was enjoying this far too much and he was just trying to behave. It was better that Glitch was distracted by the bag, he figured.

The headcase could still be fixated on Cain's clothing.

"DG, you look beautiful," Az stated, smiling at the photos as DG spread them out on the table. Ahamo and the Queen each looked over the photos, as well, Ahamo pointing to a few of them and naming a statue in the background. The Queen pulled one of the photos toward her and looked up to Cain.

"Why, Mister Cain," she said with a smile. "Look at you." Cain tried not to blush and found himself looking at the floor. Az twisted slightly to see the photo her mother was looking at.

"Who's that?" she asked, pointing to Josh. DG smirked slightly and nodded, seeing a little sparkle in her sister's eye.

"That's Josh, Cain's little buddy." Az nodded and continued to glance at the photos. Ahamo looked at a few more pictures and pushed one toward DG with a raised eyebrow. DG covered her mouth, trying to hide the laugh, but Cain knew exactly which picture they were looking at.

"Mister Cain," Ahamo said, as seriously as he could muster. "You deserve a medal."

"Sir?" Cain blinked.

"For going above and beyond the call of duty," Ahamo explained, trying not to laugh. Cain wasn't sure what to think, until he saw DG shake. Ahamo could see that Cain wasn't terribly content with the idea of her laughing at him, and he did feel guilty... but it was just too funny. "I mean," he said, waving to the photos. "You launched yourself into Little-old-lady land."

And that's when DG lost it.

"I'm sorry," Ahamo said, trying to stop himself from laughing as well. It was a bit easier for him once he saw the look on his wife's face. Cain did have to admit that is was funny and looked away so no one could see the smile on his face.

Clearing his throat, Cain looked to the royal family. "I was tricked," he said with a nod.

"No one forced you to go," DG responded, pointing to Cain. "Well, Josh..." she mused.

"Please! 'There's this thing for work; it's kind of a party but not really. And I don't want to go, but I have to go because it's for work. You'll have more fun here, watching TV. 'course, if you wanna go, you're invited'-" Cain rattled off.

"You had a good time!" DG snapped back.

"Yeah," Cain breathed. "Because nothing says 'good time' quite like spending the entire night trying to keep Ellen Cooper's hands off my ass." A snort from Az brought both of them back to the realization that they weren't alone in the room.

So much for not slipping.

"Forgive me, Your Highness," Cain directed to the Queen, wondering if he could die from embarrassment then and there.

"It's quite all right," she replied softly, enjoying the performance.

"Which one's Ellen Cooper?" Az asked, nudging DG's arm and pointing to the pictures.

DG pushed Az's bedroom door shut and watched her sister move across the room to her dressing table as she leaned against the door. "So? Good birthday?" she asked quietly. Everyone had been so happy to see her, but she didn't understand. They should be angry, but no one showed it.

"It was," Az replied, giving DG a tired smile. DG cocked her head and pushed off the door, moving across the room to her sister’s side.

"Are you okay, Az?" DG asked, kneeling next to Az's chair. Az looked down to DG and smoothed her hair.

"Of course. I'm just not used to this much excitement," she said with a laugh. DG gave her a sad smile and looked down for a moment. "You're really only here for a few days?" she asked, hopeful that DG would give her another answer, but knowing she wouldn't.

"I uh... I have to go back to work. And Cain has a test and... I have responsibilities and I know I had responsibilities here first, but I-" Az rested her hand on DG's cheek and smiled.

"You're here. And for a whole week, I have my baby sister." DG smiled and nodded. Az pushed out of her chair and pulled DG up. "Now, tell me more about this Other Side-party." Throwing an arm around DG, the two of them moved over to the bed.

DG laughed and gave her sister a look. "You just wanna hear about Josh."

Az made a face and shook her head, sitting down and dropping her head to the pillow. "After everything I've seen today," Az stated, watching DG move around the bed and plop down next to her. "I'd rather hear about the dance."

"What dance?" DG asked, turning her head to look at Az.

"The one from the photograph," Az said, raising an eyebrow. DG averted her eyes, knowing exactly which photo Az was referring to. She'd held it up for DG and raised an eyebrow while they were in the library, but DG just waved it off.

"It was just a dance, Az. No big deal," DG said with a shrug. Az snorted lightly and glanced at the ceiling.

"Were you even in the room tonight?" Az asked with a frown. DG blinked and turned back to Az. "Deej, I'm going to say this in most... uncreepy way possible: That man should never be allowed to wear another set of clothes... Ever." DG breathed a laugh, wondering if she should mention that she had something to do with Cain's outfit.

"Unless it's the black," Az said quickly, with a shrug. DG let out a deep laugh and nodded.

DG looked at the light fixture hanging form the ceiling and smiled. "You should see him in a tee-shirt," she stated, and both girls laughed. Az wrapped her arm around DG's and rested her head on DG's shoulder.

"So, tell me about this Josh," Az said airily. DG's eyes narrowed and she turned her head to look at Az.

"I knew it."

DG tried to rewrite an important scene last night. It wasn't cool. Even Steve wasn't happy.
It's really not important... I just felt like sharing %p
