When I saw it in the theater, I was with a couple people my age and two that are 10 years younger than us. There was quite a difference in the reactions that we older folks had compared to the younger ones, especially in certain scenes. I know that's due to us growing up with the show and the movies and them seeing maybe a few of the films
( ... )
Yeah, I'm totally resentful with Disney that they basically threw the Muppets away after they bought the rights and made a couple films. And I can see why Frank Oz and some of the old crew would be upset. But at this point, it's new Muppets. I'm ridiculously grateful for that. And hopefully this will lead to EVEN MORE NEW MUPPETS. I've got my fingers crossed, anyhow.
This was brilliantly written, Angie. Truly, you hit the nail right on the head.
HOLD THE PHONE. Bret McKenzie was involved with this film?! This is what a get for not paying attention to the credits. That is awesome, though! And "Muppet of a Man" makes much more sense now...
I really wish I could have seen this in a full theatre with other nostalgic people. Besides my brother, there was a pair of grandparents with a four-year-old and one middle-aged guy. Rather discouraging, when you're the only one cheering and laughing hysterically and clapping in the entire room. ;^/
