Gahhhh, I skipped most of this post because I don't want spoilers of the movie, but I truly share your love for The Muppets. The movie gets by the end of the month over here, and I cannot wait. I love so much these characters that I introduced my baby niece (of 2 and a half) to them when she was very little. She LOVES Elmo, Abby Caddaby (I bought her a doll last christmas), and one of her favorite songs is this Muppets intro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q5uiJ7lQrw&feature=related), and this Bohemian Rhapsody video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgbNymZ7vqY)
That last picture is sad and beautiful at the same, and that quote is the truest truth.
That Bohemian Rhapsody video is a thing of pure joy. When they started posting new clips on the Muppets Youtube page I WAS FAR TOO EXCITED. And Beaker's Dust in the Wind! AB FAB.
Oh, gee whiz, Angie, you made me cry again! I saw The Muppets today, too, and was teary-eyed throughout most of the film. (I'm now listening to "Me Party" on repeat. THERE'S NO ONE AT THIS PARTY I DON'T ALREADY KNOW.) I love that the script/story was written so straightforwardly - kids programming sucks nowadays. There's a deep lack of joy in the world, and I'm so happy I found a little bit of it tonight.
Kermit is awesome. I love him so much. He is exactly the kind of person I want to be when I grow up and I know I'll never be able to match up to him, but hopefully he would think I was doing a pretty decent job in my life. You've said everything that I've been trying to tell people who make fun of me when I belt out "Man or Muppet". All I know is that every time my iPod plays "Pictures in My head" I just start crying. This movie was just absolutely great and I hope it leads to ABC/Disney either reviving a Muppet show or just giving us a plethora of movies for the rest of time itself.
And the only show that I can think of that might come sorta close to what you're talking about is "Phineas and Ferb". That's a show that both kids and adults can enjoy with two boys coming up with genius inventions and just having fun. Other than that there is a major lack of programming that is just plain good and smart.
