Add all the numbers together, and then divide by 10 (the total number of answers). So, all those scores added together make a total score of 87. 87 divided by 10 is 8.7, which is the average.
Heh -- I SUCK at math, but that one somehow stuck with me, too. (I can't tip to save my life, for example -- hence, I overtip. Or ask m'boyfriend for help. Sad, I know. :D )
Yeah, to do an average, add up all of your numbers, and then divide by the *number* of numbers you've got -- so if you had five grades, you'd divide by five, if you had 12, you'd divide by 12.
Ain't nothing wrong with overtipping! Or do what I do, move the decimal point over one number to the left then multiply by two. Say your bill was 25.00, move the decimal left, 2.50, multiply by two = 5.00. Voila, 20% tip! But then, I come from restaurant family and live with a guy who comes from restaurant family, so figuring a tip is second nature.
Anyway, wow, I had no idea that averaging was so damned simple. Thanks!
Actually, that's exactly what Rob does, and what he taught me -- multiply by two and move the decimal. :) After a few glasses of wine, however, even that ability leaves me. :D
