Months and months of being gone. You fall off the wagon, and you stay fallen off. At least that's true for me. I enjoy writing it, then I get crunched for time, and then poof! I cannot even compare the difference that one year has wrought. I do remember being positive for the start of the new year last year, and the difficult, but nevertheless complete, break that the December trip gives added to the sense of renewed promise.
