My first audiobook came today.  I wouldn't have bought it but the book itself won't be out for another year!  I know that is the reverse of what is usually done.  Do I want to wait another year?  Not bloody likely!

I just finished Death of a Red Heroine by Qiu Xiaolong.  It follows Chief Inspector Chen Cao of the Shanghai Police Bureau, head of the special case squad (handles politically sensitive cases), homicide division, as he tries to find the murderer of a "model worker."  A model worker is a person the Chinese Government promotes as the ideal worker.  ( Read more... )

I just finished reading The Sorcerer's Circle by Michael Siverling.  This book is the best mystery novel I have read in some time.

The characters are interesting and likable.  The story, while aspects of it are out there, are not as strange as what happens in real life (as the saying goes, reality is stranger than fiction).  There is just some ( Read more... )
