Hakkai slowly made his way down the stairs, finally giving up on sleep from all the nightmares. Planning on getting some tea to calm his nerves he made his way to the kitchen. Stopping suddenly he noticed the light in the kitchen was on, he couldn't help but be curious who else would be up at this hour. Stepping into the kitchen he noticed a blond boy who looked to be about 14 or 15.

Stepping quietly so he didn't alarm the other he made his way over to the table, noticing there was already water boiling on the stove. Sitting quietly and generally not bringing attention to himself, he wondered how long the other had been awake to have made all this food.

Matthew glanced up and put down his fork to snag a cup. Someone up this early probably wanted tea or coffee. He leaned over to look through the tea packets.

"Earl grey, green tea, or...I got some herbal stuff as well. Mint tea. Chamomile if you're trying to get back to sleep." Matt gave the sauce another stir and lifted it off the heat. He poked a glance at the cookies and decided a few more minutes.

"Food is for all if you want some." He said after another few minutes, "But it's still early I guess. To eat."

"Oh thank you, green tea will be fine." Hakkai had to admit he was pleased to see a student that wasn't hostile or generally traumatizing to ones heath. "I know why I'm up this early...but why are you? Most students wouldn't even think of leaving their rooms till later than this."

"Cooking." Matthew wouldn't normally be this brief but really cooking as stress relief only worked if he was constantly cooking. So he put in a bag for tea and grabbed the kettle with a potholder as it boiled.

"Sugar or plain?" He let the tea steep to the side and started poaching eggs. The cookies would be done by now and he pulled them out and set them aside.

It was normal for Ed to be up early. Not by choice, however, but by necessity. With a small yawn, he was half blindly following the trail of delicious aromas leading to the kitchen. "Smells good, what's cook-- Matt?"

Edward blinked a little in confusion, looking at the piles of food and Matt in the midst of eating and cooking. "What's going on? Did you get in trouble and they said you had to cook for the whole school?"

Matthew glanced up again. Oh, Ed. He gave him a small smile and nodded toward the food. He barely heard what he asked and even then he just replied absently, "Of course not. I'm just cooking."

"Coffee or tea?" He asked and ducked his head to check on the cake he had baking. He should probably work on the frosting. That would be smart.

"You look like you're cooking for an army. Coffee, please." He was gaping at all of the food Matt was making, still making, or had been making. Coffee, real coffee, was divine. He hadn't had coffee in ages, and part of him felt guilty that he could have coffee where his 'family' couldn't.

Maybe coffee as a Christmas gift was a good idea.

"I just like cooking." Matthew shrugged a little. Sure it was a good deal of food, but he liked cooking and it was certainly helping. He already felt a little better and he'd only been at this two hours. Usually it took twice that to be feeling like he could stop.

"Coffee. Okay." Matthew had commandeered the espresso machine as well. He scooped, tamped, and set the machine to run while he searched for powered sugar.

"Milk and sugar?" He asked after a moment, hovering his hands over two mugs.

Rogue had heard on the grapevine that one of her kids was cooking up a storm. She decided to check in, make sure they weren't burning down the house, see what was going on. She wasn't all that surprised to see a sad Matt gorging himself on pancakes, to be perfectly honest. She'd done the whole comfort food thing herself.

"Hey there, Matt," she said, grabbing herself a cookie. "What's goin' on?"

Matthew shrunk down a little. He liked Ms. Rogue and she was a great teacher and very nice. He just wasn't sure he wanted to be interrogated on the why of all this.

"I'm cooking Ms. Rogue." He said as respectfully as he could and continued to cook his sausage. It wasn't as if he planned to do it this way all the time after all. He just needed to let off steam somehow.

"Awful lot of food you got," she said carefully. "You gonna have a party or somethin'?"

"No not really. I just kept cooking." He was a little startled to see the spread of food now that he actually looked at it. He hadn't realized he had been cooking quite that long. That explained why he was so tired.

"Would you like something to drink? I have water boiling for tea."

Sometimes it was hard for a boy who could hear people's thoughts to get a good night sleep. Such had been Neku's experience last night with various people's dreams slipping into his own. He yawned as he came into the kitchen. Something smelled good and since he was awake he might as well grab some breakfast.

He didn't realize it was Matt who was cooking. He paused in the entrance because he hadn't expected it to be Matt. Neku wasn't sure what to make of all the food. "It's a little much, isn't it," Neku asked, wondering if Matt had even noticed him.

Matthew looked up for a moment and shrugged. He wasn't sure he really wanted to explain it all.

"Want anything to drink?"

"Uh, sure," Neku said after a moment of thought. He took a seat and eyed the spread, trying to figure out why the sausages had syrup on them. Neku looked over at Matt, this was probably one of those moments where he was supposed to say something to his fellow classmate. However, he couldn't think of anything.

"Did you make any coffee?"

The sausages had syrup on him because they were delicious that way. Of course. Matt turned to the espresso machine and started making a cup.

"Cream or sugar?" He asked quietly, sure Neku would be one not to bother him over this at least.

Holly J had been up for a few hours by now. Light sleep, lots to do, she kept busy. She had spent the morning working out before breakfast. While it was not her destination to get breakfast just yet, as she walked past the kitchen she heard noise. While was on her way to do homework, curiosity got the best of her.

She made her way to the kitchen, once she got to the door she felt the urge to yawn. She had gotten a little over 2 hours of sleep so she shouldn't be tired. And investigating early morning noise (and as she got closer, smell) was hardly dull. Also nobody else had yawned. So this was a bit of a mystery.

"Matt?" Well, that explained her urge to yawn, which was followed now by her giving in and yawning, "What on Earth are you doing?"

Matthew blinked and looked up at her. He smiled slightly.

"Cooking."

His stock explanation and not very helpful, he knew, but he was growing slightly tired of explaining. Who knew so many people were up this early?

Holly J rolled her eyes at that obvious response, "Why are you cooking all this stuff?" Lots of students had weird hobbies... while this wasn't weird she was surprised anyone was up this early. Especially to do something like cooking. Why cook when only a handful of people would be awake.

Holly J's stomach growled, loudly. It was a sad byproduct of being near Matt. However if she were to eat her full right now, she'll feel stuffed for the entire day. She yawned as she headed over to the fridge to grab a soda, to at least keep her mind off eating too much, "And isn't it early to be up?" She yawned again, her powers off being a challenge to staying awake on what is now only one quarter the usual amount of needed sleep, "Unless you planned to eat all this stuff yourself."

She did eye some pancakes as she spoke, but she really shouldn't.

Matthew eyed her as her stomach growled and then eyed her soda. He shoved a cup of tea at her and some of those pancakes. With strawberries instead of syrup if that would make her feel better.

"I wanted to cook. So I did. I didn't really think about it."
