Sometimes it was hard for a boy who could hear people's thoughts to get a good night sleep. Such had been Neku's experience last night with various people's dreams slipping into his own. He yawned as he came into the kitchen. Something smelled good and since he was awake he might as well grab some breakfast.

He didn't realize it was Matt who was cooking. He paused in the entrance because he hadn't expected it to be Matt. Neku wasn't sure what to make of all the food. "It's a little much, isn't it," Neku asked, wondering if Matt had even noticed him.

Matthew looked up for a moment and shrugged. He wasn't sure he really wanted to explain it all.

"Want anything to drink?"

"Uh, sure," Neku said after a moment of thought. He took a seat and eyed the spread, trying to figure out why the sausages had syrup on them. Neku looked over at Matt, this was probably one of those moments where he was supposed to say something to his fellow classmate. However, he couldn't think of anything.

"Did you make any coffee?"

The sausages had syrup on him because they were delicious that way. Of course. Matt turned to the espresso machine and started making a cup.

"Cream or sugar?" He asked quietly, sure Neku would be one not to bother him over this at least.

Neku tentatively stuck a fork in one of the sausages with the least amount of syrup, as far as he could tell. He put it on his own plate. "Both," he said. He wasn't that big of a coffee fan, but it was too early in the morning for him to think of anything else.

He took a bite of the sausage and was actually surprised by the taste. He didn't say anything about it though, just chewed thoughtfully. "Do you cook like this often?"

Matthew shook his head and poured in a good deal of cream and sugar and gave it a stir. He slid it over and hung around nearby. He knew Neku liked the voices to stop and he didn't mind frosting his cake right over here.

"You like them?"

Neku relaxed a little when he felt the noise fade away. So, Matthew was using his nullifying powers again. Neku had to admit he was a little grateful.

He looked down at the coffee and took a sip, glancing at Matthew frosting the cake. "Yeah...it's a little weird with the syrup...but it's not bad."

"I just like it that way." He shrugged and glanced down at the cake he was frosting. It was coming along nicely.

Neku fell silent again. He really was bad at this. He wasn't even sure why he wanted to help. Maybe it was a way to pay Matthew back for nullifying his powers on occasion. That was stupid though, Matthew had no control over whether he did that or not. He took another sip of coffee.

"Nice cake."

Matthew smiled a little, "Thanks."

It felt strange to just stand in silence, even if that's really what Matt would have liked. But the idea of explaining to anyone was worse so he just piped on the last bit of frosting. He glanced up at Neku, "Do you want some? I'm done."

Neku didn't mind the silence so much, especially since it was REAL silence for once. He knew he was kind of using Matt in that regard, but part of him didn't really care. It got rid of the voices, what did it really matter otherwise?

He eyed the cake but shook his head, "I'm good. Thanks for the other stuff though." Wow, Neku saying thank you, there was a shock.
