I recently finished rereading The Golden Compass. Recently, as in, just before the hype took off and the kerfluffle about the anti-religious message began. I liked it even less the second time around. 20. The Queen's Fool by Philippa Gregory. Historical fantasy that takes place in the British empire during the Spanish Inquisition (which, contrary to popular belief, was actually expected). 16. Religious Illiteracy by Stephen Prothero. Go read this book. Seriously, find a copy and read it. I was expecting a huge Christian bias, but I was pleasantly surprised. Basically, it's about America, whose rather loud Conservative Christians flaunt their faith without actually understanding it.
