30 years ago I watched our Commodore 64 play 'Sweet Dreams' by the Eurythmics, in glorious... 8bit or whatever sound while advanced CGA graphics played various effects.

Today my Lord of the Rings minstrel played the same, as passersby in this gloriously rendered virtual world, occasionally stopped to listen.

The road turns ever homeward.

One of the things I love about Lord of the Rings Online is the attention and effort spent on little fiddly details. The background music is WONDERFUL and atmospheric, shifting as you move -- the Old Forest's music is dramatic, but then you come across Tom Bombadil and the music lightens, cheery. Been trying out Lord of the Rings: Online in 'free to play' mode.

Having a blast, and one of the things that really works well is ... it's a BEAUTIFUL game, with wonderful atmospheric music all over.
