So I'm doodling out a setting (primarily, classes and magic rules) for a lowish fantasy E6 campaign.
Notably, after a quick run of Discworld novels, I have the combined reaction of 'man, I want to do an E6 D&D game' and 'man, I wish D&D magic was anything like most fantasy novels.'
Soo... using incantations from UA and taking out magic classes, and inventing a series of classes.
Using fighter, rogue, and barbarian mostly as is, though each gets the level 7 class ability at level 6 (along with the level 6 ability). Sort of a 'capstone' achievement.
Generating new classes is somewhat easier when there's only 6 levels to worry about. Heh.
So far I've made Athlete (feats of strength or agility), Concocter (alchemist or herbalist, makes limited magic through potions), Diplomat (skillful manipulators), Leader (inspires the courage and stir the blood of their followers), Scholar (to understand the world gives power over it), and Thaumaturge (cantrips plus special 'fast-cast' incantations -- dangerous, but effective).
Also plan on adding Craftsman, though debating how to work that out.
It's a lot of fun, somewhat dimmed by realizing I have no group on hand to play this with, and it's not really worth the effort to self-publish. Ah well.
