A bit of sadness QQ and maybe LFG on WrA (US) allyside

Aug 01, 2013 09:32

About a week ago the officers of Alt Factory, a guild I had been with for several years, decided (for reasons that are opaque to me) to kick out a large portion of the guild members (from the guild, our FB page, our guild site and Lj so we can't even communicate at all). They cited "inactivity" but since I was on a guild toon pretty much daily and ( Read more... )

Did someone get hacked or something? O.O

That's... really out of character for what I know of Alt Factory!

I've rebuilt several times on WRA, and if you decide to pick up the pieces and try again... depending on what you're looking for, I may be able to offer some suggestions.

I didn't even think of someone being hacked in my below comment, but that could very well explain it as well.

I assumed that all of her characters had been booted, but... either way, yikes.

It may have been someone just decided to hijack a level 25 guild, too. I don't know. I've known quite a few Alt Factory folks over the years, and they were one of the guilds I recommended for those looking for a friendly, social guild on the server. :(

I didn't know the guild, but I'm fairly new to WrA and am not on that toon a lot. It sucks all around though, no matter the situation.

Is it possible there was a standing rule to at least get on you alts once in awhile to show they are active? I know my guild has a thing like that, but they also have the courtesy to announce on the forums that we need to hop on them or they will be kicked (though we have the option to reguild them once we are active again). Also, were they marked as alts in guild notes and what not? If so, then this was really rude of them. If not, then it's possible they weren't sure if the character was an alt or someone's main.

Yeah, I'm trying to give the benefit of doubt to them, but it sucks all around. Maybe on your main that is still in the guild, try talking to an officer or the guild leader. See what they say, and then decide what to do. If you are really unhappy with them after this, it may be time to move on, either to another guild on WrA or to a whole different Realm.

Good luck!

My guild has a rule in place that any toon, alt or otherwise, that hasn't been seen online in a month gets kicked. It's to keep our roster from getting cluttered, and alts are generally marked as alts and we do try to warn people to hop on their characters when the deadline is looming. That being said, it's hard to determine what Alt Factory's reasoning might have been for the kicks, and if you do still have a toon that's in the guild or see the officers online, I'd just suggest asking to determine the cause before getting too upset.

I have an alt guild I'd be willing to let you put your toons in until you get things straightened out or find a new home somewhere. Just don't clean out my gbank and we're golden. :P

Thank you. I would never clean out a guild bank. I may start a bank guild for now. AF was so much fun that even my "bank toon" was in the guild and I never bothered to start a bank guild.

They cited "inactivity".We did not remove a large portion of members from our roster. We removed six players, citing a lack of participation or behavior which is contradictory to the guild atmosphere we all (our members included) have worked so hard to maintain. (To quote our posts regarding this matter: "We have removed members who no longer contribute to the guild (either in conversation or in donating their ideas or time), as well as those who do not represent the guild in a positive light ( ... )

Wow, talk about the OP misrepresenting things. You might poke the first couple people who commented to scroll down to see the truth.

idk, if they're kicking people without any discussion its not exactly a vote of confidence. also IIRC this happened with another WL member (maybe it was d_g) fairly recently? not to mention the person _commenting in this post_ about the same thing happening to them so yeah it doesn't seem far fetched to me that this isn't just a misrepresentation.

Donno. The Alt Factory has been an active guild with a lot of WoW Ladies in it. It's possible something big changed, but it's also possible that one person kicked for "do not represent the guild in a positive light" would show up to support another's post.

I have no horse in this race, but why would af_officers show up here with a comment like this if they just randomly kicked people out? Why would the AF officers care?

Ouch, you too? It's really hurtful business overall, and I was very upset when I found out about it. If you want someone to talk with, you can find me on Kayplays#1577 when it comes to battletags.

Thanks, though I was mainly talking/commiserating with Rosz on the situation. I saw her post and thought 'hm, given how it shook me up when I logged in, I know I wouldn't mind a friendly shoulder.'

Same here. Nothing like finally moving back to a stable net connection, logging in, all excited to talk to friends again and seeing the dreaded box that said "No Guild" (Malfie)
