I think I've finally figured out why I haven't posted very much this year. There is something so draining about my job that, by the time I get to a computer, any thoughts I may have had that I wanted to post have flittered away. Is it January yet?

Around this time last year, the store I was working at was closed down by the district manager. It's kind of strange to think it's been a year already. I felt like I should say something to, I guess, commemorate it, but I don't really have anything to say. Except maybe "I wonder if the northside store is hiring."

Midnight releases are kind of fun (in a crazy way) when more than two people show up.

At work I was helping a friend alphabetize the horror movies, and we got to noticing some recurring words that come up a lot, like "Blood" or "Zombie." So, we joked about making the most cliche'd horror movie ever and giving it a completely ridiculous title using all those words. As the local video game manager, I'm currently scheduled to work the midnight release event for the new Madden. We're not expecting a big turnout but I'm still hoping it'll be interesting. This is the first time I've ever had the chance to be at a midnight release for anything.

You would think somebody with a title like "video game manager" would be getting more shifts where he actually works with the department he supposedly manages. Or even just more shifts, period.

Would one expect somebody with the title of "video game manager" to be able to recommend games on something stronger than just "I've heard good things about it?"

On an entirely unrelated note, it sounds like management is starting to recognize that I can contribute something beyond an amazing ability to put things back in place. This might also ( Read more... )
