On the recommendation of my sister, greenmansgrove and I got Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party for the Wii. We got two dance pads with it, and finally tonight we took it out for a spin.

I suspect that you won't be surprised to hear that us less than fit folks weren't instant experts - but it was slightly less humiliating due to the Friendship mode.

Walk It Out stands as a very good low-impact geekish exercise program. While Wii Fit is certainly the leader in Wii exercise, in no small part due to Nintendo's marketing and the innovative use of the Balance Board, it is not the only exercise product out there for the Wii, nor the best one for every person.

Has anyone created custom routines on the Wii Fit? I usually either just pick what I feel like doing to get the exercise I need, or do 30 minutes of freestep or free running.

So I broke down and bought a Wii step for continuing the stepping program in WiiFit. Wow, it -really- does make a difference in the workout you get! For the last few days I've been going through Advanced Step 3 or 4 times as part of my 30 minute workout, but starting today I think what I might try is going to the twenty minute Free Step, instead. My very favorite Wii Fit Plus activity right now is Advanced Step. After coming across it 2-3 times in the pre-set exercise routines I've gotten the hang of it. There's only two things that I don't like about it ( Read more... )

I find I've gone through three phases on my Wii Fit Plus already since November 1) Fool around and play every game and activity. 2) Start zeroing in and playing the activities that I like and 3) Start to give greater thought to the activities that will give me the workout I want ( Read more... )

Just general observations here...I've noticed that geeks in general don't tend to do fitness as fitness that well. For myself, it has to be something *fun*. If I'm playing basketball, I'll gladly "exercise" all day, but put me in front of a weigh machine or tell me I *have* to do it on a regular basis, and I rebel ( Read more... )
