I'm not positive since I only saw it once, but it sounds like a scene from a TV series called Thriller, episode title The Hungry Glass.

You are brilliant. I told Mum and she thought maybe - she used to watch Thriller all the time. I played it to her (over the phone as she's in another state) and within 10 seconds she was sure it was it. Thank you!

On the cover of the Genesis album A Trick Of The Tale, there's a line drawing of an old woman staring into a mirror, and the reflection is a young woman. There are also drawings of Peter Pan, the Devil and Daniel Webster, etc.. I'm wondering if it was from some kind of fairytale?

I won't post a link or a pic because my comment will be marked as spam, but I'm sure you can find it on a Google image search. I'd be surprised if there weren't some kind of connection, you know?
