Recipe term

I need to know what something is called, so that I can google it. What I want to be able to do is cook one dish, then carry over the leftovers for a night or two ( Read more... )

I just want the term so I can find recipes easier. I know I could just reheat leftovers but I'd like some of the thought taken out of it for me. Planning lunch and dinner 14 days at a time takes forever. :)

Not sure there is a word. You can go to google and start typing "cook once eat..." it will start pulling up sites that have recipes for cooking once and turning into more meals. I found a few vegan/vegetarian onces. OAMC (once a month cooking) is a term I discovered...so just keep looking!

I think you can google planned leftovers recipes or planned leftovers menu and you'll find what you need.

I've usually referred to that concept as "repurposing," but I don't know if that's the term others use too.

I consider it part of nose-to-tail eating, since you're working to not waste anything, but it's obvious from the name it usually refers to animal products. Googling "vegetarian nose to tail eating" gave me this interesting phrase though: "ichi motsu zen shoku (one food, used entirely), a Japanese vegan philosophy that means using every last bit of vegetables from frond-to-root."
