Recipe term

I need to know what something is called, so that I can google it. What I want to be able to do is cook one dish, then carry over the leftovers for a night or two ( Read more... )

There was a TV programme here in the UK called Economy Gastronomy that used to call these bedrock recipes. But that seems to be their own special term for it. They'd make up a huge pot of something, like stew, or a tomato sauce, or a roast chicken, and then suggest ways it could be changed throughout the week. I think they'd only actually one week where they'd a vegetarian though and it was the tomato sauce as a base they used but they kept putting meat things in it.

If you have freezer space though you could maybe look into the OAMC (Once a Month Cooking) Vegetarian recipes. They might have recipes you can adapt.
