Hi, I'm looking for a book that my friend recommended but couldn't remember the name of. She described it as: "a collection (omnibus) of short stories about the black women living in the same apartment block. set in the 50s or 60s. I bet this is The Women of Brewster Place by Gloria Naylor. It was made into a TV movie at one point.

I remember the tv movie. It played out over a few nights, and I remember one of the previews showed a kid sticking scissors in an outlet and it totally traumatized me.
