Query about music

I cannot for the life of remember the name of this artist or album. It's a guy singing, and he takes heavy metal/hardcore songs (like "Enter Sandman" by Metallica) and sings them in a kind of Frank Sinatra style. I think that it sounds so nifty (and funny!) and would really like to buy or download some of his stuff. Thanks in advance ( Read more... )

Definitely Richard Cheese. His version of "Enter Sandman" melded with "Mr Sandman" is hilarious, although his version of "Do Me" is my favourite.

I think Pat Boone did an album like that.

That's what I was thinking of. I still have nightmares about him doing "Smoke On The Water" on The Tonight Show.

Not exactly the same, but Ben Folds turned the (extremely vulgar) rap song "Bitches Ain't Shit" into some sort of depressing piano ballad... which was pretty awesome.

I'm going to fifth (or sixth or whatever) Richard Cheese. He's released quite a bit. He used to be an engineer on the "World Famous" L.A. radio show, KROQ, and a lot of his songs are popular picks from the station.

Tell us, can we declare this one !found?

And might I recommend Moog Cookbook? If you're looking for really out-there Muzak covers of rock standards, check it out.

Thanks to everyone who responded, it was Richard Cheese and I just downloaded it. I'll also be looking into some of the other recommendations.
