Another Season, Another Garden(s)
Today I put in my spring/summer gardens. I'm not quite done yet, but I hauled in 14 cubic feet of composted mulch, 4 cubic feet of great soil. And I partially deconstructed the winter lasagna garden to pilfer some of the great soil and lawn clippings. Alas, my seedling starts for this season have been poor, to say the least. Quick Garden Update
Harvested 2 cauliflowers yesterday (1 orange, 1 purple) and pulled the cheddar cauliflower plant that wasn't producing since it was blocking sunlight to other plants ( Read more... ) -
Weekend

Garden Scramble
The last week or 10 days have been incredibly warm here. The midwest and eastcoast ar in single digit temps if they're above 0 at all. Here...we're sleeping with windows open and even have the ceiling fan on at night ( Read more... ) -

The first carrot has sprouted up in the carrot. I shall call it....Carrot Prime. -
Tomato Babies
My tomatoes are finally starting to come up. Two green zebras popped the surface of the soil in their cups today. I expect both will have popped their leaves all the way out by the end of the day. I'm sure it helps that the weather has been incredibly warm (highs in the low to mid 70s, and lows in the high 30s to low 40s) here the last few days ( Read more... ) -
What's Up Doc?
I hated to see the seeds my sister sent just sitting around doing nothing for almost a whole year, so I planted carrots in the garden today. Hopefully there's enough time left in the season for them. There's not enough space left in the garden for chives or broccoli, so those will have to wait until next winter, when I will hopefully have two or ( Read more... ) -

Ugh! I just looked at the latest home sale news for our zip code. Just 12 houses sold in that 1 week period - 8 existing and 4 new. I did a quick average of the price per square foot of the existing homes (since this info isn't reported for the new homes) and multiplied that average by the square footage of our home....it comes out to less than ( Read more... ) -
