adirondack adventure
my adirondack adventure "pre-orientation" trip was a lot of fun, and well worth the long trip back east. i went on a canoeing trip through a bunch of small lakes in the adirondacks for 3 nights. there were 8 freshman on our trip (plus 2 upperclassmen leaders), and they were from all over the country and the world. one of the girls was from sri ( Read more... ) -

my mom just bought me condoms for college. i really don't know what else to say besides that it was an incredibly awkward moment when she pulled them out of the shopping bag.

3 days
i'm too lazy to make a post about new york and hamilton, but i loved it there. i was gone for about a week. i met a lot of other freshman, ate cafeteria food, and basically lived the life of a college student (minus the whole "going to class" thing). it was great, and i can't wait until i go back for good in january ( Read more... ) -

hamilton has a program called "adirondack adventure" for incoming freshman. its a week-long program that takes student groups on various trips throughout the adirondacks. even though the trips separate, they all come together for a day or two at the beginning and the end of the program ( Read more... ) -
brazil and california
i got back from brazil 2 weeks ago already, but i haven't had any time to write about it. basically, brazil is amazing. rio de janeiro is gorgeous! we were there during the middle of the pan-am games. the beach volleyball stadium was within a stone's throw from our hotel (we had a great view of it from the top floor/pool, as well as the rest of ( Read more... ) -

the heat
after being in southern oregon for two days in 95+ degree heat, i have developed somewhat of an immunity to heat. i used to wilt whenever it got about 85 degrees, but now, im finding excuses to go outside when it is almost 90 degrees. its weird to see how your body can adjust under extreme conditions. later this summer, im going on a 50-mile ( Read more... ) -

i'm for oregon tomorrow on a family road trip. we're gonna see some relatives in portland, visit the shakespeare festival in ashland (and maybe jon, too!), and wind our way back up the oregon coast. i will be back july 7th ( Read more... ) -
