after being in southern oregon for two days in 95+ degree heat, i have developed somewhat of an immunity to heat. i used to wilt whenever it got about 85 degrees, but now, im finding excuses to go outside when it is almost 90 degrees. its weird to see how your body can adjust under extreme conditions. later this summer, im going on a 50-mile backpack in the sierra nevada of california. the entire week-long trip will be above 9,000 feet in elevation, and the trail will go over two to three 12,000 foot passes. im sure my body will acclimatize to the lack of oxygen, too (i sure hope it does, or else its going to be very painful).
the road trip with the family was fun (the oregon coast is beautiful, even though its really crowded). im getting sick of being around my family, so im glad to get out of here on saturday for brazil. at the same time, i feel bad because i will be leaving my family in about a month and a half for london (and for the next 4 years of college) and won't see them again until thanksgiving.
