Monday, I spent over two hours on hold on the phone to talk to someone about my Food Stamps situation and contest the new decision. Instead of having a dedicated line for this issue, they're funneling everyone to a general helpline, so I'm competing with people trying to reach live human agents to talk about Food Stamps, Medicaid, Fair Fares, ID ( Read more... )

The local classic rock radio station, 104.3, will start playing side 2 of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon in honor of the eclipse at 3 pm EST.

I live in Queens, NYC, and Friday my area had the shakes enough to knock a book off one of my shelves. I'm on the third floor, and everything was rattling for longer than I expected. Hilariously, I, and many other people I know, didn't get a cell phone alert about the earthquake until over 40 minutes after it happened. Local news says we haven't ( Read more... )
