I Don't Even Know

I'm half-watching one of the (I think) last episodes of the Ash vs. Evil Dead TV series. Man, did this turn into a thankless grind. I'm just holding on to see how it ends ( Read more... )

That anime sounds very, very odd!

Then there's the rest of the student body made up of students that Zeus created out of nothing to give his academy a more perfect Japanese high school ambiance--though he also makes it harder for Yui and the gods to attain the goal he demands they do (with failure resulting in him never letting them go home)--while Hades has a liking for Japanese food Because. I'm sticking around for the wtf factor, even if it's already starting to annoy me that Yui is making herself essential to and improving every single guy god.

Meanwhile, this wouldn't be the first anime with a dating sim base I've watched that made me wonder why the hell any woman would want this. The first one was Amnesia, featuring an amnesiac protagonist who kept facing scary, life-threatening accidents, some of which actually killed her and sent her to parallel universes where she was involved with one of the featured bishie guys, all of whom had some flaws but some of whom were psychotic.

Aah, Japan... never change!

I have a question, though... WHERE'S THE GOD WITH THE GLASSES?! We need a guy with glasses, otherwise this is not really a high school or/and a dating sim.

Maybe they thought it would be weird for the gods to be physically imperfect? But you're right, no high school is complete without a guy with glasses!

Teacher Thoth's monocle might be decorative, and it's all the series has given on the glasses front.

If they need to go to school, they're not above needing glasses, dammit!!

Seconding that that anime sounds most strange.

(Also, I read "dating sim" and I read "put through a Japanese filter and bishie-fied" and I read "school," and for some reason I STILL did a double-take that they're all twinks, lol. I have no idea why I wasn't prepared for that...)

I would SO BE ALL OVER THIS if the gods were characterized as they are classically. Holy crap would that be an anime. What mayhem and intrigue. (And you're right, she'd be so pregnant ...and/or exiled and/or turned into an animal/insect and/or dead...)

So agreed, but classical god behavior wouldn't work well with the dating sim, "they all fall in love with our teen girl in a good way," cute vibe so it's not happening here. (She'd be lucky if she didn't end up having sex with an animal.)

It's also still weird to me hearing "Zeus" pronounced with two syllables. I guess the Japanese figure that those two vowels wouldn't be in there if they didn't each have a purpose?

I'm not literally laughing my ass off but it's a close thing.

LOLOL. I actually watched this anime when it first came out.... The young girl is supposed to teach them what it is to love and care about others and each other I believe because none of them have any understanding of human emotions. It's all pretty predictable. I haven't seen a second season of it so I'm guessing it's a one off. Hey, at least it's not as bad as "Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love!" If you haven't seen that one, check it out at gogoanime.com. There just aren't words to describe it.... lolol.

If you like the girl with the guy harem kind of show, you might consider "Uta no Prince-sama". It's followed by a 2nd season and then Revolutions. A girl who was raised in the country for health reasons by her grandmother who taught her the piano gets into a prestigious music academy. She wants to be a composer. She meets a number of male students who want to singers and/or musicians. The story goes from there.

I haven't seen Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love! and don't have the connection speed or data to stream it.

I actually saw the first season of Uta no Prince-sama on Anime Network. I don't go out looking for harem shows, just watch whatever Anime Network has On Demand unless the series bores or really angers me. Anime Network On Demand has had a broad variety in the past few years, though very little m/m. I think the only m/m I've ever seen there was Love Stage!!. There's been a bit of PG-13-rated yuri now and then, schoolgirl stuff.

Have seen LoveStage! Would have liked a second season... Have checked out Haikyuu! 1st and 2nd (which is ongoing) seasons and really enjoy it. Also loved both seasons of Free! esp the end theme/video on season 2 I think.

BTW, is the problem your laptop or the network that is available to you? We have DSL, not the fastest DSL, but it's hell and gone better than dial up. Don't think we'll get FIOS out here anytime soon! sigh...

Re-read your reply... What kind of connection speed do you have? I stream a lot of what I watch and overall things go pretty smoothly. I tend to follow a lot of action/adventure/ mystery/ supernatural/sci-fi/sports type anime. Covers a lot, I know. Have really liked one called: Prince of Stride lately. It's a short series. 12 eps.
