A Direct Hit (Maybe Two)

Have any of you had good results from having Safelight inject something into a windshield crack to stabilize it? Because the one time they did that for me years ago the crack just grew faster and I had to get the windshield replaced anyway ( Read more... )

Not sure if I have dealt with Safelight once or not. Have had 2 windshields replaced on 2 different vehicles over the years. Both were covered by insurance so there wasn't any cost to me and in one case the guy came out to my house and did the replacement in the driveway. The other was handled at a local body shop. Maybe the guy that came out was from Safelight? It was years ago so I can't say. I do know that it started out as a ding in the windshield and turned into a running crack along the bottom of it. Haven't had anyone try to use a filler though. Not sure how well that would work long term. Sorry, wish I could be more help.

I've always had to pay some of it, though since the last time was over four years ago I no longer remember how much. Safelight sent guys to replace my windshield on my car while it was parked in the neighborhood... but they didn't match the glass correctly or properly reseal everything so I'm not sure if I could trust them again to come to my car instead of me taking it to a garage.

I don't know. I still haven't made a decision about how to handle this.

Thanks though.

I don't know if it was safelight but I have had a crack filled before and it held very well.
