ECT
I got to watch my patient receive ECT today. She has major depressive disorder with some hypomania and has not had the best response to meds. ECT has come a looooooong way since the 1950s/Sylvia Plath days. Basically they are putting you in a grand mal seizure state for roughly 30 seconds. Is absolutely silly. It's the knowledge that someday...granted a looooong someday the sun is going to consume the Earth and none of this, none of it will exist anymore. Everything will return to stardust. I think that's just lovely and beautiful. -
