ECT

I got to watch my patient receive ECT today. She has major depressive disorder with some hypomania and has not had the best response to meds. ECT has come a looooooong way since the 1950s/Sylvia Plath days. Basically they are putting you in a grand mal seizure state for roughly 30 seconds. I've heard that ECT has come a long way since the old days, and I've sometimes considered it, seeing as how I have some symptoms that my meds don't seem to help very much. I'd love a brain reboot.
