I had a pretty nice weekend. I didn't do much on Friday. My Cooley peeps were busy preparing for final exams and I didn't feel like going to the movies or anything like that. Instead, I drove out to the lake to take a few pictures of my car. I ended up going to bed early.

I think that this festival is a big money-maker for the town. They especially need it in hard economic times.
From what I can tell, most of the parades I have seen in Michigan are pretty much the same. They mainly have cars and people marching with a few "floats" on the backs of pick-up trucks or flatbed trailers. They throw out a lot of candy for the kids and they also drive farm tractors too. There's also a lot of church groups in it. In San Antonio, I grew up with much different kinds of parades. They mostly happen during Fiesta week (April), so they take it to a whole new level. In those parades, you see a lot of floats that are some kind of big large frame that is decorated and built over some kind of car. There are lots and lots of them. We also have many horses and school marching bands. You never see farm tractors and not as many plain old cars either. We also have lots of clowns too. I don't recall the paraders ever handing out candy to kids either.
