Spoilerific Spiderman Reaction

May 14, 2007 16:06

I just saw Spiderman 3. And well, golly, I must say the special effects are great, the acting wasn't bad, the porn potential was enormous - and Venom… well let's just say as the Gate, I find a kind of kindred spirit in that entity. Evil black possessive tentacley critter who does some kick ass bondage? Who can say no to that?

COMPLETELY SPOILERY REACTION/PARODY AHOY! )

commentary, spiderman, rant

VENOM-PARKER: OSBORNE, I'm going to actually cause permanant injury this time.
"Haduoken!!!" Ala Street Fighter 2
OSBORNE: Not the face! WTF you jerk!

Emo!Spidey... WTF?!

Yeah Vel, you said it best methinks. I did think there was some cool things going on, but why should they rewrite part of the first movie ... AGAIN? Please don't mess with your own canon people.... the fandom will can rape it on it's own fine.

The tentacle rape... that was yay...

Though i feel the end of your version could've had a Harry/Peter/MJ threesome at the end....

I know there is no way they'd actually put in canon threesomeness, but having the possibilty open for fandom Harry/Peter/MJ would be awesome. Honestly, I liked Harry, I never could buy his sudden shift to evil avenger -- I mean he loved Peter and MJ and when he had amnesia, he loved them again. Why would he be so completely rejecting of them for a father who never even treated him that well. I can see him being conflicted and hurt and confused, but not psychopathically vengeful -- if anything he'd cling to Peter's saying that he killed himself since that's the easiest solution to handle emotionally.

No the whole rewrite of the first movie was TOTALLY unnecessary. Flint was bad guy enough on his own without that baggage. And the way Peter forgave him -- made no sense -- I mean just seconds ago the guy was trying to kill him!

Geh, I was pretty disappointed in it. -_-

...If they don't do a fourth with Carnage, I might have to choke a bitch. X/

I'm still hoping for the comic-book law "No Dead Body, And He's Not Dead" law for Venom...

I think Venom is too cool to really get rid of. As for Sandman -- well he was really really dull, but they didn't get rid of him either. In fact I think that might have been because Raimi didn't know HOW to kill him -- the dude appears to be utterly invulnerable -- he can reform himself out of anything.

Yeah, when Sandman just up and evaporated, I was all, "...Well, that was nice of him..." Thank God for repentant badguys, or Spiderman's ass would be grass. XD

(I'm praying for Venom to return...He got, like, 30 minutes of screen time. X/)

Well, except that the sandman was sorry for killing Parker's Uncle -- not for all the incredible amounts of havoc and endangerment he did later. He doesn't oppologise for kidnapping and nearly killing MJ -- Or Spidey -- or really anything. And he doesn't so much evaporate as he flies away. That was a really anticlimactic wtf moment -- because dude, Spidey just let the guy go, no promises tendered.

But then Sandman appears to be entirely an afterthought. They needed a villian to tempt Spidey to become Venom, but they didn't actually really care to follow through with the whole "my daughter is dying I need money" arc.

Scene 41-43: Sam Raimi's version.

FLINT stabs OSBORNE.

Actually, Venom/Brock stabbed Osborne. He was the one swinging around the flyer -- he tosses it aside in the next shot we see of him. Flint did not appear to be onscreen at the time.

Details details. You got a better memory than me. He gets stabbed. Which is treated as being totally fatal without anyone so much as lifting a finger to try help him. Admittedly being stabbed like that is a serious serious wound, but to just say "Oh my friends a gonner, I'm not even going to TRY to help him..."

why...WHY is this movie so full of things that don't make sense? I've ONLY been looking forward to it since before the first one came out! Curse you, Raimi!

But you know I'm still going to see it and buy it when it comes out on DvD. ^^; And you know why? Cause its got VENOM! The most awesome supervillain ever! And he'd be the reason why I've been waiting for this movie, really. mm, Venom.

And hey! Maybe Spiderman 4 will have Carnage! That'd be awesome!

I didn't want to spoil you. It's actually a good movie despite all the rediculous plot elements. But I'm such a plot whore that I couldn't resist poking at it's flaws. Venom is awesome -- utterly awesome. When it was on the screen, that was the movie. The Sandman ... was okay. My main problem with the film was that it concentrated so much on Peter and MJ's relationship, where Peter was being a dick, and MJ being useless -- I don't think it was terribly flattering to either of them. But yes. It's definitely worth seeing the film, and I'll own the DVD too, when it comes out.

It's not just the movie...that marketing people have also been giving MJ a lot of flack lately. Did you see the newest toy they released of her? Can we say SEXIST?

mm, Venom. &hearts

Yeah, Venom was pretty darn awesome. *gnashes pointy teeth* :K If they were to make another movie, I'd definitely want to see Carnage, though.
