Баллада о фотографии

Я бежал через лес к лесниковой хатёнке,
Оставляя на росных тропинках следы.
У оврага в редеющих рыжих потёмках
Я услышал: «Во-о-ды!».
Я его бинтовал. Удалялась кукушка.
Он лежал, еле-еле дыша.
Я кепчонкою воду таскал из речушки,
И поил я его, как поят малыша.
Вот уже вдалеке пулемёты утихли.
Только знал он, наверно, что ему уж не встать.
Фотографию матери голосом тихим
Он меня попросил из планшетки достать.
Он лежал на спине под столетней осиной.
Меж ветвей полыхала небес глубина.
С фотографии женщина взглянула на сына -
Поседела, окаменела она.
Чтобы сына-солдата могла она видеть получше,
Фотографию я прикрепил на сосне.
Мать осталась в глуши, в чаще леса дремучего,
С русоволосым сыном наедине.
И сегодня она за полями, за балками.
В брянском древнем лесу, как в далёком году,
Всё глядит с фотографии на лесные фиалки,
На большую упавшую в эти фиалки звезду.
