But FFS USA, if you are going to be so dumb, try doing it a little quieter and give the rest of the world less reasons to point and laugh in exasperation.

You have no idea how much I wish this country would take your advice.

The worst part about my American rants, is how many wonderful American people get to read them... in fact ONLY wonderful Americans have access to my journal.

I know I am preaching to the choir here, Gen. Glad you don't take it personally, because that would make me very sad. <3

I actually think most Americans don't get flu shots. They're advertised a lot if you go to some grocery stores or Wallgreens, but I don't think most people get them. I've had them a few times when in college (specifically since getting the flu during final exams or bowl season would be pretty terrible), but haven't had one in years. Granted, I do seem to get the flu every other year or so without the shot.

I loved the irony of people trying to deport Piers Morgan because of what he said. Granted, a number of people "think" they know what the Constitution says and don't understand that most/if not all of it's protections (like freedom of speech) are given to EVERYONE and not just citizens.

Please remember, we're all not crazy here. Most of us are sane. :)

I honestly think it differs according to the state. When I live in GA it seemed everyone got one. Personally I found it absurd that people even considered it flu season when it was 80 degrees outside.

I feel sorry for Piers. I wouldn't fancy having a terrorist group like the NRA bad mouthing me. It makes me curious if security around him has been tightened.

I have been to the US 10 times, traveled to 14 states and lived in 2. I promise, I know that it's the crazies that make the noise.

Flu shot takes 2 weeks to kick in. So yeah you can still get the flu after the vaccination. Anyway anectdotal.

It's not crazy to want to keep yourself from getting sick. I get mine annually. We see lots of positive flu cases who skipped the vax.

I agree on guns.

I eat healthy and take care of my immune system and I have never gotten flu.

So I agree, it isn't crazy to want to keep yourself from getting sick.

Mass hysteria about immunization IS crazy and a honestly believe flu shots are a hoax, but placebo's do have their benefits.

People go bat crap crazy over them here too. I've never seen such a thing. The only people I know back home who get them are the elderly, those who have or live with someone with a compromised immune system, or those who work in the health care field.

Exactly!

My way of vaccinating myself against flu is to eat healthy food and low and behold... IT WORKS! :)

Haha the flu shots aren't the end of the world. They may be a waste of money, I guess. I did get the flu shot once because I just happened to be in for malaria shots at the same time and it was a total non-event. Most people will get a bit tired/sore/achey from it (which some people confuse for the actual flu) but it didn't seem to affect me any.

I think the reason they push them onto healthy people is so that there'll be less flu going around to kill infants and the elderly. I don't know if it actually does that, though.

They are a complete hoax. Obviously they may still have a placebo affect on some individuals.

We immunize the infants and the elderly so they're covered without hysteria.

We've received flu shots the last few years and... never got the flu. I also practice hand washing and clean my home regularly.

Sadly, politics in USA don't really express my feelings accurately of "gun control." If you own a gun, make sure you don't put it somewhere that your kids can get to it, load it up, and take it to school. Simple act of being responsible. Everyone else blows it up into some huge argument. Being and American can be fairly frustrating because Americans are constantly being mislead by greedy people.

I don't blame you for wanting to immunize your child, not for one second.

There is no reason for anyone to own a gun. Ever.
