I agree with you 100% on the flu shots. The Pierce Morgan thing is not actionable, even if every American signed it. It is just a protest against a foreigner who comes into one's country and bad mouths it publicity. It is totally a tounge-in-cheek protest against what they perceive as rudeness, not against freedom of speech.

You have to understand Texas culture to understand why Texas university students are petitioning for the right for licensed permit holders to carry weapons on campus. Criminals are coming to areas where all the good guys don't have guns and shooting them. The good guys want to be able to defend themselves. We've also had several shootings in Texas that were stopped by private citizens shooting the bad guys before the police could get there, which arguably saved lives. I guess it is hard to explain unless you live here.

That being said, I don't own a gun and certainly not a concealed carry permit, but if a deranged shooter busts into my office and starts killing people, I hope all of my coworkers are.

Phew! Finally an American who agrees on the flu shot thing! :)

Actually, I will never understand a gun toting, weapon holding culture. It is so far removed from anything I associate with humanity I don't think I will ever wrap my lil' European head around it.

It wasn't "tongue in cheek against rudeness" it was pure ignorant stupidity and they guy behind it is a first class dumbass and conspiracy theorist.

I'm afraid no matter what anyone says to me to try and convince me that requiring guns is a necessity there will always be a school shooting to prove your theory wrong.

Guns don't kill people, American's with guns kill people. The global statistics speak for themselves.

If you consider my non-American opinion rude, then maybe your countrymen should consider being responsible for less controversial news stories, this we will be unable to form opinions.

I really don't want to be offensive, hopefully I haven't come across this way.

Not at all. You make some very valid points. Why are Americans shooting people? Maybe its the flu shots!

Americans have little room to talk about rude foreigners going to another country and insulting their way of life. I've seen American tourists abroad and it ain't pretty!

Hahahaha! You could be onto something...

To be perfectly honest with you, American tourists are some of our best customers and certainly most respected. They are always polite and listen to any advice they are given, irrespective of where in the US they hail from.

Remember, your average FOX News watching Americans probably don't own passports and if they do, Amsterdam would not be high on their priority list (Bill O' Reilly hates it here).

If you are able to over look the occasional dumb questions then Americans in Holland are cool in my book. :)

My work often has someone come in to give flu shots at no cost to employees. I've gotten it, because flu season tends to coincide with our busiest time of year at work, and my bosses have said that if we get sick during that time, we're still expected to work. So I got one. But I've never gotten the flu. (One year there was a vaccine shortage, and they prioritized the elderly and infants, which was fine. I think vaccines are so popular in America because the drug companies make so much money off them ( ... )
