Tonks' Bio

Tonks in OotP:

We know she is an Auror and has finished her training about a year ago at the beginning of OotP - this would make two years now.
Her mother is Andromeda Black-Tonks who was cut off from her family for marrying Muggleborn Ted Tonks.

Tonks is a bit clumsy and prone to accidents of all kinds.

As a Metamorphmagus she is able to ( Read more... )

From the sound of that, the 'Head of House' mentioned must have been either Snape or McGonagall - and my guess is that it was Snape, as she would have just said "McGonagall" or "our esteemed Head of House" when talking to a bunch of Gryffindors.

Why wouldn't it have been one of the other heads of house -- Sprout or Flitwick, perhaps? Admittedly, Tonks doesn't automatically jump to mind as a potential Ravenclaw, but she could make a very spritely Hufflepuff, I think.

We just thought that those words "lacking certain qualities" and "ability to behave oneself" sounded much more like Snape or McGonagall than one of the other two - of course, we do not know them as well.

And so we created the nice fact that Tonks is one of Snape's former charges.

You know, it does make sense that she'd be Slytherin if she managed to get into Snape's Advanced Potions (which she'd need to be an Auror). And why should poor McGonagall get stuck with all the troublemakers? *G*

Bill is always up for a bit of flirting while looking for True Love. (winks at Tonks)

I would have thought that slytherin might not want her - didn't Salazar say that he only wanted to teach pure bloods?

Good point. But he was possibly an exception. He was Slytherin's heir, after all.

And it does say that in the hat's song... but, whatever. I don't really mind, to be honest.

[I am thinking it might have been Remus who maintained contact all those years and later introduced/invited her to the order, but that will have to be cleared with his player.]

I've no problem with that. Remus would do that kinda thing.

Well, that's that, then. Remus held contact to the Tonks family even after Sirius' "betrayal", saw Tonks grow up and when the Order was reinstated in earnest (after Voldemorts's return in GoF), he immediately asked her if she wanted to do something in the fight and introduced her to the Order.

Nice to habe you aboard, btw.

Snape couldn't be the head of Tonks' house, because wouldn't he wasn't head of Slytherin House until after voldermort's downfall.

Either he had just left Hogwarts or they went at around the same time.

Well, as Tonks left school the same summer Harry started it, she would have started 7 years before him, right? Then add the 4 years Harry had already spent at school at the beginning of OotP and you have 11 years gone by since she entered Hogwarts - while Snape says to Umbridge that he has been teaching for some fourteen years.

So - what's the deal? He had been at the school for two or three years before Tonks even started.

Also - "went to schhol at the same time"? Where do you get your numbers from? Snape was born around 1960, Tonks in 1973!
