Kara wandered the halls aimlessly. She was still wondering what this place was exactly. Seemed to be military, but she hadn't exactly stuck around to do a Q & A with Helo about where they were.
A child

As he wandered the corridors he was amazed at what he saw, the place was huge and seemingly had everything. It was too bad, he imagined they could really enjoy some of the amenities offered together but Kara was right; they needed to put their energies into returning to the fleet.
He wandered for hours getting more and more concerned as he did. Studiously affecting disinterest to avoid interacting with the many others he ran across, both human and disturbingly obviously not, he kept his focus on finding Kara and trying to figure out what to say to her. She was right, Helo's liaison with a Cylon was a monumental betrayal of their people and they couldn't trust him.
The ECO's tale of returning to the Galactica in a Raider with Kara greatly alarmed Lee. If whatever had happened to Helo when he came to this ( ... )

"If you're coming here to tell me that you met a great Cylon girl and that she's already pregnant with twins, pull out your sidearm and shoot me now."
He smirked at that one, "Ah yes nothing like some ordinary relationship drama for us huh?" he deadpanned in return.
He turned his head away and sat quietly as she worked out what he knew was at the core of what had clearly devastated her, kicking himself for not picking up on it sooner. Finally she expressed her doubts and fears about Helo and even the little girl. The latter surprised him a bit, neither of them had ever had a particular affinity for kids. He didn't want anything horrible to happen to the child though if there was even one bit of humanity in her.
"Yeah she is just a kid, and if she's part human?"
"Or what if we never ( ... )

Kara almost spouted one of her patented snarky comments, but closed her mouth at the last minute, remembering the fight they had before they arrived at this Godsforsaken place. Her brain currently couldn't handle any more problems; they would deal later. If they dealt at all.
"Yeah she is just a kid, and if she's part human?"
"I know. Thought's popped into my head over and over again. And as pissed as I am at Helo, I don't think I could just stand there and let something happen to his kid. Besides, it's not her fault she's in the middle of all of this." Kara paused. "Gotta wonder, though. If she's part Cylon in any way, is she a potential danger to us? At least somewhere down the line?"
"C'mon Starbuck, if you're going to be unhappy there's no reason you have to be uncomfortable too."
Kara was hungry. And exhausted. Not that she would admit that to Lee. Some food and a few hours rest would do them both good, reenergize them so that they could keep looking for a ( ... )

Well they really were on the same page about the kid. For whatever reason kids pretty much remained non-combatants at least kids as young as Hera.
"Anything's possible, I'd say and we really can't be sure how far down the line either. I mean what do we know about how Cylons grow or how that's going to affect how she grows? For right now though I've no desire to see her hurt."
"I was going to suggest we find a bar and have a drink. Or five."
He smiled at her. He had to give her credit; sometimes she had a way of switching from the most desperate of topics to the most bizarre. It was one of the things he loved about her though. Lords had he really just thought that?
"Well, whoever said we couldn't order drinks with dinner?"

Kara nodded. At least they agreed on that. She still didn't know what to think about Helo, though. Stuck in this crazy place, it would be nice for her and Lee to have someone else to depend on. Someone else to help them get back home.
But would Helo really want that? Yeah, he would. Because in his frakked-up mind, his Cylon was quite the savior. In his mind, he had nothing to fear in terms of going back to Galactica. She rolled her eyes at the thought. Idiot.
"Well, whoever said we couldn't order drinks with dinner?"
Lee's voice broke through Kara's thoughts. She told herself she wasn't going to think about Helo or how screwed they all were for the rest of the night. Instead, she smirked at Lee and said, "Dinner? Who needs dinner when you have alcohol, Apollo?"
The smirk slowly disappeared as her eyes locked with his. And then she said 'thank you' to him without saying anything at all.

So when he wrapped his arms around her and tried to keep her from leaving, she bucked like a wild horse. "Lee, let go of me, or you're going to have a broken nose to go with that black eye!"
"He's not a bad person Kara."
"And when he asked you to join this "ARMOR", what, you just sat back? Had a few laughs at my expense and then he told you everything you needed to know about this place? It wasn't just about fighting alongside each other! You went to him for information...after everything he told us! After you knew how I felt!" She slammed her elbow into his ribs and managed to wriggle out of his grasp. He had asked something about where she had gone, but she didn't care. He wanted more information, he could go ask Helo.
