Probably as high as a kite, Sam spent the late afternoon yesterday snuggled under the cat mint plant. I've only just cut the huge display of purple flowers off it - and Sam seemed to like eating them a lot - but it's still going strong.

I have a hobby - making cat beds the cats aren't interested in. My latest effort is a larger pot for Sam to sleep in. (There was this post about him sleeping in an unused pot in the garden.) Last night one of our friends visited (he will be staying two nights) and we went out to tea* with him. Don B (the B is because my Dad is a Don, too) is an old friend of my husband's, having joined the Air Force a couple of years after Gary and the pair of them having careers that lasted a similar length (30+ years) and took them to similar places ( Read more... )

We went up to see Sam and Mocha's breeders mid-week. Cuddled a lot of kittens, talked a lot of Ragdoll history talk.

... how much I love my cats. A friend and neighbour has just suddenly lost her most beautiful and loving boy, Melek. He was a Turkish Angora, such a stately and beautiful breed, though very high energy. I travelled along to a couple of shows with him and thought he was one of the most beautiful cats, ever. Last year I went on a Handlers and Stewards course to get some qualifications for helping out at cat shows. It was a wee bit stressful as everybody there seemed to have been doing both jobs for ages (years and years, sometimes even decades!) and were just 'ticking the box' by doing the course. Here are some of yesterdays of shots of Mocha on the aviary (never used for birds - was only ever an outside cat room). He's in his very short summer coat and very slim, so looking more like a Balinese or Snowshoe than a Ragdoll.
