Tomorrow, I going to the dentist for the first time in six years.

May 17, 2006 13:35

Give or take a few months.

Needless to say, I'm terrified of what they may find. I can feel it in my gums this is not going to be pretty or feel good.

It is, in fact, going to be very ugly and feel signicantly horrible.

Good luck. wwolfe May 17 2006, 20:48:11 UTC
Or at least good painkillers.

You're not alone, by the way. I think the last time I went to the dentist, Clinton was President. There's a pretty good chance that the next time I go, a Clinton will again be President.

Also, if I'm in serious pain, I'm raiding your pill collection.

I hate the way he looks into the camera. He cares more about his makeover these days, I think.

I had you beat by at least 2 years...and it was neither pretty nor good. But I'm so very glad I did. Be happy you're smarter tham me and doing it BEFORE having excrutiating pain 60 miles from home on a Sunday.

Which reminds me...it's been like 6 months since my last visit and I still have a temporary filling that is supposed to be made permanent at some point. Damn, gotta make an appointment (and a doctor's appointment, and an dermatologist appointment...sigh).

I saw you on that day. We were brunching. thespice May 17 2006, 22:43:29 UTC
And you were an unhappy pumpkin.

At least I floss and brush everday. I'm hoping that's been a help.

It's the expense, more than the pain, that scares me. I'm just not sure how much I can afford (really, I cannot afford any of it) to fix if there's a lot that needs repair.

Well, really. iidoru May 17 2006, 23:27:05 UTC
If you've not been forced to go due to incredible pain, it's probably not that bad. Right? RIGHT?

I'm less concerned about root canal and cavaties than I am about gum disease. (Though I'm feeling some weirdness...not really pain...in a back molar that looks rather unhealthy. And my single wisdom tooth is causing crowing and problems. Last time I was at the dentist, he said, "You better get that out right away. It's going to cause all kinds of problems." Shoulda listened to him.

Gum disease is weird, though. It can move right along and not really cause pain, or so I've read. I'll just hope for the best. They're certainly receding in some areas so there's reason for concern, at lest.
