Needless to say, I'm terrified of what they may find. I can feel it in my gums this is not going to be pretty or feel good.

It is, in fact, going to be very ugly and feel signicantly horrible.

I went for the first time in many a year about two years ago. Nothing new was found, but a few fillings needed to be replaced. 'Twas not bad at all. I now go for regular check-ups.

It had been over 10 for me when I finally went back to the dentist. I was terrrifed. And also, very lucky, because apparently I have super hero teeth and never require anything but the twice a year cleaning, even after 10 years of neglect. You'll be fine though. They will fix whatever needs fixing, and it'll suck for a while but afterwards your pearly whites will be in tip top shape!
