Yami had been intent enough on his list - and his senses dulled just enough by painkillers and antibiotics - that he didn't notice the soft sound of footsteps nor the movement on his periphery until the kitten popped up over the edge of the small table and knocked over a few of the far chess pieces. He jumped a bit in spite of himself, then looked up with a grin at the voice, nonchalantly turning the notepad facedown. "Gwendal," he murmured with a nod by way of greeting, then shook his head. "Not my game. The board was like that when I sat down-" Well, except for the knight. "-probably abandoned when Morris started to cause the serious problems." He frowned a little at a thought, asking in concern. "Speaking of which, how are you feeling?"

Gwendal shook his head, sitting opposite from the table and letting Rosh crawl around his broad shoulders and neck. "I'm fine, I just needed to rest and regain the mana I lost."
He hated that his mana was tied to his energy. It made using it all the more dire when it approached critical levels. Not to mention to made Gwendal feel like crap afterwards. And poor Watson was worried out of his mind and fussing over him.

Yami nodded. "That's good to know." He grinned as his attention shifted to the other kitten. "What's her name?"

She remembered his journal post, his reckless act of trying to take on the damn ghost-what was he thinking? Cirucci, trapped in her room at the time, had groaned and rolled her eyes at his seeming stupidity.
He was alive still, at least, and in one piece. Cirucci figured she might as well familiarize herself with him, to see just what was inside him to make him think he could take the ghost on.
"Cute." She took a step inside the lounge, arms crossing over her chest as she watched the kittens cooly. "Well, at least the ghost didn't touch something. You, on the other hand..." She nodded to his arm. "Not so lucky, were you?"
She wasn't so sure Yami even knew who she was, but she didn't care to make the extra effort to introduce herself.

Slowly, he levered himself upright, hand over the shoulder kitten for a moment before offering that hand to the woman. "I don't think we've met yet. My name is Yami."

She kept her gaze on him almost challengingly. "Rather risky what you did, isn't it? You could have ended up a lot worse." She let her hand linger in his before she dropped it, a nail running across his palm so lightly that it could've seemed like an unconscious action. "All for the good of the ship?" There was an ironic note in her voice, a hint that she found that reason all a little boring.

Thunderwitch?? He managed not to react overmuch, just quirking a brow at that, though he couldn't help but think it was a strange surname. An assumed one, perhaps? If that were the case, he sure as hell wasn't one to talk.
The nail on his palm made his hand twitch and he resisted the urge to rub the itch out on his pantleg, meeting her gaze evenly, a wry grin quirking his mouth. "Something like that." Actually it was exactly like that, not that he'd intended to be near-suicidal about it. The truth was, he'd miscalculated his abilities. "I thought there was something measurable I could do to combat the thing." His grin twisted a little more into something a bit darker. "And I don't take kindly to intruders ripping up my ship."

He stepped inside noticing two kittens, he moved over to Yami usual impassive face in place.
"How you feeling?" ask Kanda the last time Kanda had seen him was when he was being helped out of the engine room bruised and a little bloody.

Almost absently, he turned his notebook over before levering himself to his feet, one hand cupping over Horus so the kitten didn't topple off his shoulder. He allowed a small, almost rueful grin at the question. "Much better than the last time we met. Kanda, isn't it?" He offered his hand. "I've been wanting to talk to you . . . to thank you for your help."

"It was nothing," said Kanda pulling his hand back after a while.

"Is everything all right, Kanda?" he asked after a heartbeat, glancing the man over. "How are you faring after that fight?"

But--
....hmmm, how curious. The identity of the mechanic was unmistakable! How had he not seen this man around the ship before? He would know that hair anywhere.
"Well, well. The man of the moment," Holmes said by way of greeting, keeping the flash of recognition out of his face. He was aware of the young man's recent history, and he had reasons for remaining anonymous. (Besides, if Holmes was to make the man aware of his knowledge of his identity, he'd prefer to do it far more dramatically. He was an artist, after all.)

Yami looked up when movement at the door caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. He blinked. Tall and thin, the man reminded him of a water pipe. He frowned a bit at the comment, nonchalantly flipping over his notebook before levering himself to his feet, a hand briefly steadying Horus as he did so. "I'm sorry?" he asked, his look a bit guarded. It wasn't that he was "playing dumb" - not at all - just that he was unwilling to assume. After all, he really didn't think anything of his actions in the engine room - if that's what this man was even referring to. He just did what he felt needed to be done.
Never mind that he'd been mistaken in his assessment of the situation and his capabilities to affect it, a spot about which he was admittedly a bit sore and had already resolved to find a way to

Yami looked up at the sound of a woman's heels in the hall just outside the lounge, studied the woman who stopped in view, watched her try to place his face just as he did the same. He turned his notebook over before levering to his feet, one hand cupping briefly over Horus to keep him from toppling out of place.
"That's right," he responded with a nod, offering his hand. "And you?"
He watched a brief flash of reaction cross the woman's otherwise stoic features as her gaze took in the kittens. He showed no signs of noticing, but he couldn't help the mental grin of amusement.

As the other moved to his feet, Tear managed to keep her gaze firmly adhered to the young man, but at the same time, she couldn't help noticing the kitten's tiny shifts of movement. Although her expression and body language didn't outwardly reveal this, she suddenly found it a great deal more difficult to focus on making her response.
"Tear," she answered, accepting his extended hand and giving it a light shake, "Tear Grants." A split-second of silence passed, as she took into account his cast.
"Is your injury recovering well?"

Khnum shifted in the sling, and Yami reached a hand in, semi-permanently oil-stained fingernails scratching behind the kitten's ears.
