Characters: Yami and his fellow Silvana crew members
Content: Without injuries that require him to stay in the infirmary, Yami's vacated the bed to get out of Watson's and the other doctors' way. However, he's on medical leave for the moment, what with his dominant arm fractured . . . not that there's much he could do until the new engine room equipment and parts arrive. So he's taken his two kittens and gotten out of his quarters where he was going stir-crazy.
(Feel free to come pester him LOL)
Setting: the lounge
Time: post-ghost, once things have settled down at least little and everyone's back on board doing whatever
Warnings: bored mechanic? leCUTE kittens? iono LOL Whatever you bring with you.
Yami sank further into the seat, setting down his coffee mug on the small table next to him and leaning back as the soft sound of purring filled his ear. At barely four weeks old, Horus and Khnum were coming along nicely. He was just thankful they'd survived their own ordeal, what with everything that'd gone on in the past week or so. He glanced down at their "diaper bag," as he'd taken to thinking of it, but knew he'd not have to feed and bathe them again for another two hours.
Khnum lay on a washrag folded up on the wrist of his cast, tucked into the sling supporting his left arm and cuddled into his stomach. He grinned to think that John would probably fuss at him for that, but the tiny creature barely weighed anything so he thought it was all right, at least for short periods. Horus was curled up on his left shoulder, tucked against his throat, the kitten's purring vibrating softly against his collarbone. He reached up to love on the kitten for a moment with his free hand, shifted to the one on his cast, then turned his attention back to the table next to him as a thought, another remembered item, occured to him. He started to reach for his pen, but the chessboard just beyond his notebook captured his attention first. Miraculously, it seemed that the poltergeist activity had not spilled any of the playing pieces, the board set up as if a game had been abandoned in mid-play . . . which it likely had. Something had been niggling at him and finally he noticed what.
"Knight to C-3," he murmured, picking up a black horse-headed piece and moving it on the board. It now faced the white king. Yami allowed a small grin. "Checkmate." Picking up his pen, he returned to the list he'd been working on all morning...
((OOC: Utter-fail moment, possibly. It is the king you corner in chess, right? *can't remember - flails!* LOL In other news, Gwendal! Finally found a place to work in that chess game if you wanted LOL...))
