"Go away."

It was such a quick response. Arthur had made sure to leave his room as little as possible during the past couple weeks. He'd also refrained from talking on the network. He didn't want to see anyone, didn't want to deal with anyone. He just wanted to be left alone.

Of course, Arthur did his work. He would eat his meals. But he'd avoided talking to people at every opportunity, even if that meant he had to take the long way around to get certain places. It annoyed him greatly that his door had been broken, and he vowed that he would someday gut Vole alive and strangle him with his intestines.

Arthur was lucky that Francis hadn't been able to get in there.

"You've been avoiding people for the past two weeks," he attempted, rapping at the door with a knuckle. "It's high time you came out and joined the rest of us living folks out here," Itou added, of course not mentioning that small detail that he'd also had a brief period of people-avoidance during the races. Not that he'd been all that successful, considering the amount of people he couldn't avoid.

Arthur did not respond. Instead, he settled back into his chair, working on his embroidery. He had a needle to protect him in case the Lieutenant-Commander decided to enter.

Itou sighed loudly and started the tedious process of moving the door out of his way. Victoria II had very heavy doors. It made him wonder just how strong this Vole was to remove all of them right off their hinges like they were made of paper.

Arthur coughed lightly, welcoming the fresh oxygen he was now permitted to have. Geez, what a bastard. At the same time, Arthur was impressed. Had Itou hesitated, he would have ended up with marks all over his face. But. Just because Arthur was fascinated by this new side of the Lieutenant-Commander didn't mean he was no longer angry at him.

In fact, Arthur was even more angry. He pierced Itou with eyes full of defiance.

It was going to be tiring, holding onto Arthur like this. But if he let go, Itou was certain that Arthur was going to attack him again. Pragmatically, he strategically placed a leg between Arthur's thighs to block any efforts at kneeing him in painful places and took his hand off Arthur's collar. Instead, he leaned his arm on the younger man's shoulder. Arthur's other wrist, though, was going to remain pinned to the wall for some time.

"I really just want to help, you know," he said irritably. "No need to take it the wrong way all the time."

"Help?" Arthur spat out. "Why in God's name would you want to help me?" It seemed like no one wanted to make his life any easier. And Itou was one of the last people Arthur trusted.

Itou considered his options. He could just rape the dumb little shit then and there and hammer on his point, or he could try to be diplomatic about it.

"We're some of the few people who can stand each other," he finally said. "Despite knowing how fucked up the other person is."

Right, right. The volcano. Erupting. Arthur brought himself back to that mindset. He leaned forward, resting his arms on his legs, folding his hands. "Yes. I could tell it was him. But he pretended he wasn't. He acted as if he were someone else the entire time." And it was stupid, and childish, and if only Itou would have been there to see it. Then he would have understood.

But, no! The last thing Arthur needed was sympathy. He needed to be told he was stupid for holing himself up because of Alfred.

"... How old is your brother again?" he asked in disbelief, because that sounded like something a thirteen year old would do, and Itou had half a mind to tell Arthur off for being in a knot about a prepubescent boy.

itou should go dig up that conversation from art's journal godandmyright August 13 2009, 09:32:48 UTC
"Nineteen," Arthur replied, running his fingers through his hair. "Then when we talked on the Network a few days later, he continued to deny that it was him I saw. He even went out of his way to talk to himself as though he were talking to the other person!" Arthur was beginning to get angry again. "I told him I'd let him go, that I'd stop being his brother and let him do as he pleases. But he didn't seem to take anything seriously. He just kept saying, 'I'll be sure to tell Alfred!'"

He hacked it. But he understood nothing with all the talking to himself Al was doing. ceilingitou August 13 2009, 09:43:03 UTC
Itou let Arthur rant on about the issue even as he recalled the last journal entry Arthur had. There was a kid there, which he figured was the brother, and someone called Captain Vohemar who... also appeared to be the brother?

"You're right, he is dumb," he replied with a small frown, trying to wrap his head around that conversation. He could pass it off as the kid having difficulties communicating, but he sure made Itou feel like he had good social skills.

It was Arthur's room, but it was obvious that Itou was not comfortable with having Roy around at all. He turned to regard Itou, as if asking what he should do. He didn't mind talking to Roy at all.

Then he regarded Roy again. "If there's something you need to do at this second, then by all means."

Despite the urgent need to tell Arthur to kick the man out, he took the high road and shrugged, as if saying, go ahead and invite him in. Arthur did as he wanted. He felt it would be tasteless to make him choose.

Anyway, Mustang was better at getting Arthur to calm down.

More telegraphic glances? Interesting... and also a little worrisome. Who Arthur chose to be with normally wouldn't have been any business of his, but that it was Itou made all the difference.

As such, Roy smiled, said his thanks, and walked right in.

The tension was thick enough to cut with a knife. Arthur let a small, silent sigh escape him and forced a small smile in Roy's direction.

"You're going to fix the door then? It'd be nice to not have to worry about Bonnefoy."

Oh. Roy was done. Arthur attempted to bring himself back to the ground, where everyone else was. Magic. Roy knew magic. That was wonderful.

"Ah! Thanks," he said with more enthusiasm than he would have liked to show. "That will do for now."

He should have known that Arthur would be impressed by something like that. Itou raised an eyebrow at him, wondering if he'd already forgotten their earlier conversation. Most likely yes.

He supposed it was all right, if it dragged Arthur out of his sulking.

"You're welcome."

At least Arthur looked a whole lot better than he had earlier, when he and Itou had been... doing whatever it was that they were doing. No normal argument, that.

He had to learn about that... Whatever it was Roy had just done. That was too interesting, amazing. And, yes, he had completely forgotten Itou for the moment.

"I suppose I'll be able to rest easy now. Without certain people coming into my room."
