Station 7--Reno Beat Jenka electro_phoenix April 6 2009, 03:01:55 UTC
Ah, storms. Not Reno's favorite type of weather to be caught out it, but hey, it was a job.

Suited up in that stupid rubber get up, Reno stood by the net, waiting.

"You two ready, yo?"

The rubber outfit wasn't bad. Jenka was used to assisting in all kinds of bizarre experiments requiring all kinds of bizarre precautions. But most of them had Jäger-fitted equipment, damn it! She glared as she struggled with her hands, impatient to get going. "Almost. Schtupid gloves don't go vell vit claws."

"Oh, hell vit dis!" She pulled harder, and the claws punched through the fingertips. That was better. "Ready."

Beat wriggled his shoulders, trying to adjust the rubber clothing. it stuck to his skin in awkward ways, but he'd deal with it. This was all just too cool to back down from, after all. After that he pulled his airboarding goggles over his eyes, helping to keep the rain from blinding him at the worse possible time.

"Ready, yo!!"

Beat had a good idea. Pulling his own goggles down over his eyes, Reno latched on to part of the net, braced for (hopefully) anything.

"Here's hopin' we don't die!"

Okay, not only was this going to be horribly dangerous, he was also looking like a complete prat in this stupid rubber outfit.

Lavi bounced up and down impatiently on the balls of his feet. If they had to do this, might as well get it over and done with.

"You guys good to go?"

Hijikata had long since been noted for his ability to stand as a calm presence through any storm; he was doing it a little bit more literally now. Despite his distaste for the... unfortunate design of the rubber clothes (he would NOT be missing those when they were gone), he wore them about as well as it was possible for anyone to (not very, honestly), and did an impressive job of seeming like the storm itself would bend to his will the moment he made it known.

He looked at Lavi, clearly unimpressed with his...bouncing. "Of course," he said simply. Then, "Stop bouncing. Focus on the task."

[[There seems to be...a distinct absense of Fai]]

Lavi probably would have stopped bouncing, if he hadn't been told to. "I am focussed!" he protested, still bobbing up and down as he set to work securing their rod. He was perfectly capable of working and bouncing, at least until things got really hairy, and while Hijikata's face looked about as friendly as the storm they were plunging into, Lavi nonetheless found him somewhat less intimidating.

For a brief moment, Hijikata wondered why he never got put into work groups with people who were marginally sane; he quickly came to the conclusion, after going through the ship roster in his head, that it was because there was a distinct shortage of such people aboard the 4423. It was the kind of realization that made him really want to have a smoke, but he knew better than to try and light his pipe in this kind of rain. Damned pity, that.

Taking another rod, he began to secure it. "If you get electrocuted, I'm not going to do anything to help you," he grumbled.

Seriously, if chasing down that particular duo back in Kropmork back then with the Fiertia wasn't enough, than this really kicked the bucket. Now he was on the deck, sunset red hair blowing in the wind since he had forsaken his hat in this kind of weather and having long forgotten the stench the whole crew had since the wind was blowing at them at about a hundred kilometres per hour ( ... )

Greed was excited. This was something he'd never done before, this was something dangerous and this was something that was going to get them some fucking money. He had his game face on, definitely.

"I was ready an hour ago!" He shouted back at Pip, the grin very, very broad on his face. It was nice to have Pip back, too for the time being. Nice of the captain to stick them in the same group.

The blew hash against his face, the storm was getting closer, he felt his fingers tingle a little with anticipation.

"Yez, more den anyting!" Dimo shouted, the wind ruffling his fur as he took his station. It had been a long, long time since he'd had the chance to handle a lightning rod, let alone one as big as this. He was tensed and ready for action, and a manic grin spread across his face as he glanced from Greed to Pip and back again.

"Dis iz vhat I vas made for."

At Dimo's comment, Pip couldn't help but chuckle lightly. "Well let's just hope you're really not made of lightnin' or otherwise we'd be in trouble," he remarked with a grin before turning back to the giant conductor rod that was (hopefully) locked down tightly enough right in the middle of the deck and down to the generator below. Hopefully this would go smoothly without any hitches, though the mercenary had his doubts - and a distinct feeling that something was going to happen. Good or bad however, was another thing altogether.

They were approaching the storm, thunderclouds beginning to roll closer and closer as lightning - their target - flashed accompanied by the howling of winds and the roar of thunder. Pip adjusted his rubber attire, making sure they were firm before nodding at the other two and shouting aloud. "Alright mates, 'ere we go!"

It was harvesting time.

The storm was getting progressively worse as the 4423 sailed right into those onimous dark clouds. Lightning streaked the skies before the loud booms followed a second behind them. The ship continued to fly into the storm, the deck of the 4423 taking a nasty beating from the continuous rainfall. With everyone scrambling into place to get ready for the next stage of this mission, Kambei quickly suited up before meeting with the other two assigned to Station 4.

"Remember, we must keep the net open long enough to catch any discharge that the main rods may have missed." The samurai reminded them.

Zack wished he'd bought something or another to keep the rain off his face as the water kept dripping off his hair into his eyes. At least the rain was good for giving them all a quick wash. Zack never realized he'd miss showering so much. For once he'd left the Buster Sword in his room, knowing he wouldn't need it and it's only get in the way while they were working the nets.

"Got it~" He answered cheerfully as he wiped the water from his eyes again.

Katsushiro felt rather the same as Zack. His own hooded poncho really didn't work with the rubber outfits they'd been instructed to wear, which left him bare-headed and with water already soaking his hair and trickling down his neck. This was not looking like a particularly enjoyable mission, all in all.

He nodded in response to Kambei's comment, the thunder which boomed out at that moment making speaking rather pointless.

The faster this mission is completed; the better considering the winds was getting stronger. They had to secure the net upon the deck before it could blown away so Kambei didn't waste anytime getting to work. Grabbing his proportion of the metallic net, samurai just hoped that everyone would make it out of this disaster alive. He wasn't very fond of the idea of Daisukenojo being stationed at one of the main rods but Kambei was quick to shake the worrisome thought out of his mind so he can focus.

"Grab a hold of the other side!" He instructed to the other two. “Whatever you do, do not let this net out of your grasp!”

STATION FIVE : NET TWO - Maxim, Anko & Kensei kirekaze April 6 2009, 03:23:41 UTC
...well in all retrospect, things could have been far more worse. At least they weren't pillaging from other merchant ships.

Though then again, this really wasn't any better off, especially after when Kensei saw the rather huge thunderstorm they were going to dive into. Sometimes, the Vaizard couldn't help but wonder just what exactly was he getting himself into when he signed up onto the 4423 - minus the fact that he was staying here only because Shinji and Hiyori was. The crew was alright (even if a little questionable at times), the captain was fine (even if she was as small as Hiyori, perhaps even younger even) and generally things were good, even after the whole incident with Doma.

So why were they doing this again?

Not a question I can answer, I suppose, Kensei mused to himself as he lugged out the net along with Anko and Maxim, setting it down. He really didn't have much qualms with getting about in the rubber outfit - it looked stupid, yes, but at least it ensured that he wasn't going to get fried like barbecued rappig ( ... )

Okay, the rubber outfit was about to get torn off. It was stiff and bulky and Maxim despised it. He was fairly sure he could get struck by lightning at least a couple times before it did any real damage and he'd be able to move a lot easier without this damn poncho thing. Any metal items he'd been wearing had been left in the cabin, both to keep from attracting electrical currents and so that they couldn't melt onto his skin in case of electrocution. He wouldn't be needing his sword for this job anyway ( ... )

Anko was perfectly fine with the outfit, to be honest. It wasn't the bulkiest, nor the most restrictive thing she'd ever had to wear when carrying out a mission and, hey, at least it was something like anti-lightning armor, which was useful.

So exciting! She hadn't run into a proper storm in years, and here they were, flying into one. Especially with the danger, she just couldn't keep the excited, slightly mad grin off of her face.

"You're gonna get barbecued," she called cheerfully to Maxim. As soon as the rain started, it should keep down the gear some. Also make the ropes and net harder to deal with, but that was life.

She shot a look at the both of them, glowering Kensei, and ticked-looking Maxim. "We ready to go, boys?"

Likewise, Kensei had been in much more restrictive and bulkier outfits than this - it came with the job of being a (now former) captain of a division of Ivona's Special Operations forces. He had done much worse than harvesting lightning (hell, he actually had to go up and hold a few operations once because they were a threat to public safety) but this was the first time he was actually doing it. He was aware of the theory of course; now it was time to see if that theory was right. And hopefully not getting struck down by lightening in the process. That would defeat the point of this whole thing anyway.

He glanced back at Anko when she directed that question towards them, face set in a neutral, somewhat serious look as he replied. "Its not like anything's going to change it I said no," the Vaizard replied as he held on tightly to his portion of the net while the winds blew stronger. This was going to be one heck of a wild ride, the man could tell.
